JVC HA-RX900 review: Big-boy headphones with a budget price tag

The JVC HA-RX900 is an affordable headphone with a large footprint that really lives up to its full-size name. It lists for $100 USD, but online it can be found for $63 in the US , £57 in the UK and AU$87 for our CNET readers in Australia.

The JVC HA-RX900 is an affordable headphone with a comfortable fit and smooth performance on rock, jazz and classical music.

The bulky design and superlong cord aren't suited for travel, and the lack of low-end boost will likely disappoint fans of bass heavy genres.

The JVC HA-RX900 is an excellent over-ear model that will impress listeners shopping for a low-cost headphone to use at work or in the office.

The HA-RX900 is certainly the big boy of the group compared with the dimensions of other over-ear contenders from Sony , Sennheiser , Panasonic and Audio-Technica .

JVC HA-RX900

While the JVC HA-RX900s have decent audio quality they don't impress at the end of the day.

The JVC HA-RX900s are about as middle-of-the-road as they come.

JVC HA-RX900

The JVC HA-RX900 headphones provide excellent quality and performance and will keep you tapping your toes for a very long time. If you do not mind the extra weight and need a good headset for your studio editing and monitoring, or just relaxing at...

These headphones fit almost every head and ear size. They also allow hardly any leakage and produce a wide sound range

They're heavy and large with no carrying case included

Surprisingly capable for studio monitoring or editing, these headphones are not the best choice for use with portable devices.

"Big in sound and style."

Despite the faults these are a great pair of headphone that you can get for a steal. The last time I bought a pair of headphones this good was 6 years ago and I paid close to $200. Which I was still using until these came. So fast forward 6 years and...

1. The sound out of the box is great and will only get better with age.

1. They do sit tight on the ears and what they used for the headphone liner tends to make you ears a bit warm.

Fantastic buy. I love it. Techno Fanatic Approved

+It works great with my computer and my tv +I listen to tons of electronic music and quality playback peripherals are an extreme requirement. I didn't realize how amazing of a difference you can have with sound quality until i stopped buying 20-25$ for...

+Long Cable. (Very long. Some people say its too long but i say how is that really possible. i mean come on. Watch where you're stepping i guess...?) I can walk around my smallish room with some easy with these still plugged into my computer without...

-No little rack thing to sit/hang them on came with. It would be nice to have a thing to keep these off of the grime of the workplace and out of danger of many things. For example, i let them sit on my desk but a couple times, already, the cable was...

Durable

Great headphones esp. if you have a big head and big ears.

The only thing I can think of of is the cord is really long, maybe even too long.

I haven't finished the burn in time yet on them that most say they need to be good, out of the box they are pretty awesome so I can only imagine they will be even better.

Budget friendly and sounds as good as many of the most expensive models/brands, extremely comfortable
