Motorola Endeavor HX1 Bone Conducting Bluetooth Headset review

The Bluetooth headset market has split in recent years, with the budget end of the market being served by low-cost, simple devices for $50 or under, and the high-end packing complex noise-reduction and DSP for $100 upward. Into that fray steps...

Motorola Endeavor HX1 review: Motorola Endeavor HX1

Though the Aliph Jawbone is so named for the voice activity sensor that touches the side of the face, it is not actually a bone-conduction headset. The sensor on the Jawbone is just there to detect your voice and help separate it from the surrounding...

The Motorola Endeavor HX1's bone conduction completely eliminates background noise when needed, while the CrystalTalk noise-cancellation technology works well in most everyday situations. It also has voice prompts and multipoint support. We like the...

The Motorola Endeavor HX1's bone-conduction mode can result in poor voice quality, and the HX1 might fit too deep in the ear for some.

Though the call quality isn't perfect, the combination of bone conduction, CrystalTalk, and other features make the Motorola Endeavor HX1 a fantastic headset.

Motorola Endeavor HX1

In a series of tests, voice quality was generally very good, with plenty of gain in the earpiece and a smooth tone. Parties on the other end could tell I was on a headset, though no one had trouble understanding me. Voice mail tests confirmed that the...

Very good audio quality. Excellent noise canceling. Stellar battery life. Easy-to-understand control scheme

Voice quality is ever-so-slightly behind the top of the class. Stealth mode degrades sound quality to other callers

Motorola aims for the top of the headset class with the Endeavor HX1, a quality unit with a unique take on noise cancellation technology.

Review: Motorola Endeavor HX1 Bluetooth headset

Let's talk Bluetooth headsets for a second, shall we? They're not exactly everybody's favorite thing to use, but they're a must-have in the car if you want to stay safe and legal. After the break, we...

Motorola Endeavor HX1: A Different Kind of Headset (Part 1)

When you spend $130 on a headset, expectations are going to be high. But given the reviews I've read about the effectiveness of the technology in this headset, I'd say I'm going to be even more skeptical than normal. First off, a few things to note....

For a long time now, Aliph's Jawbone has been the front runner in background noise cancellation. Many have tried to beat the Jawbone only to fall short. Today we will be looking at Motorola's newest headset, the Endeavor HX1, which takes a unique...

Comfortable to wear ; Fits different sized ears ; Stealth mode extremely effective ; Buttons not hidden under a shield ; Dedicated volume buttons

Noise cancellation abilities affected by positioning in ear

At first I must admit I was a little skeptical on how well Motorola’s use of bone conduction technology would work. I knew bone conduction worked but I did not know how well they would work in a Bluetooth headset were high sound quality was also...

Motorola Endeavor HX1 Bluetooth headset

Motorola's latest Bluetooth headset includes bone-conduction technology

Bone-conduction technology (stealth mode), great voice quality in standard mode, nullifies background noise effectively, excellent incoming audio, good build quality

Expensive, chunky, voice in stealth mode doesn't sound natural, in-ear design won't suit everyone

Motorola's Endeavor HX1 Bluetooth headset is one of the first to include true bone-conduction technology -- at a premium price. It has a large design, but the HX1 has excellent sound quality and is well built.

Motorola Endeavor HX1 review

It's one of the best sounding Bluetooth headsets we've ever used, though its voice quality in "stealth" mode could be vastly improved and the Motorola Endeavor HX1 doesn't come cheap.
