Philips Fidelio M1 (Black/Orange)

Last year we reviewed the Philips Fidelio L1 headphones, a $299 full-size model that our reviewer Steve Guttenberg described as beautifully built and a true audiophile headphone that sounds sweet with portable audio devices and home hi-fi systems.

The Philips Fidelio M1s offer clear, natural sound and a very comfortable fit for on-ear headphones. They also fold flat, have an attractive design, and have an inline one-button remote/microphone for making cell phone calls. A protective carrying...

Sound comes across a little recessed.

While they fall short of delivering truly excellent sound, the well-designed Philips Fidelio M1 on-ear headphones are comfortable to wear and well-suited for day-to-day use.

Philips Fidelio M1 Headphone Reviews

The Philips M1 has the most treble rolloff of any headphone I've owned. Compared to the Shure 1840 which isn't bright, the M1 is down about 12 db at 7 khz and 16 db at 10 khz. The construction or build is comparable to an average $100 headphone, and...

These headphones have a refined, stylish appeal to them - but does the price tag buy you perfection?

Great looks ; Great feel ; Good sound ; In-line clicker

Bass a little unruly ; No fold-down ; Just a basic pouch

Philips Fidelio M1 review

We recently reviewed the Philips Fidelio L1s, and we did like them quite a bit. So these new M1s were greeted with some excitement when they landed on our doorstep. They're about £50 less expensive than the L1s, but still retain that interesting design...

Comfortable, stylish, great sound

Nothing is user-replaceable, down-cable from earphones is silly, quite expensive

The M1s sound great, so what else is there really to care about? They look good too, and they're comfortable. We're a bit worried about how long they will last though, as almost nothing can be replaced by owners, but that's a minor concern

Very sturdy build quality ; Great sound ; Attractive industrial style

Pretty pricey

The Philips Fidelio M1s offer a very sturdy construction that's likely to appeal if you appreciate stark industrial designs. They provide a strong level of bass without sounding unnatural and bring enough mid and high-end to the table to satisfy all...

At £180, the Philips Fidelio M1 are in a similar price bracket to the Monster Beats Solo HD and Sennheiser HD 25-1 II. We'd recommend them over the Beats in a heartbeat - we prefer the sound, the style, the lot. However, Sennheiser's model offers a...

Look good Feel good Strong sound isolation

Treble doesn’t sparkle Bass can be unruly

The Philips Fidelio M1 are some of the most attractive, sturdiest, and comfortable on-ear headphones money can buy. Noise isolation is surprisingly good too, making them prime candidates for the commuting classes. However, the sound quality isn't quite...

Best portable on-ears £100-£200, Awards 2012. Never tiring, always pleasant, maybe a little restrained

Smooth, even tonal balance ; weighty bass ; comfy to wear ; lovely design

Bass could be a little more detailed ; slightly restrained presentation

Philips Fidelio M1: Sound quality It’s a rounded, somewhat refined presentation. Vocals are given room to breathe, while high-frequency sounds are natural and don’t harden up when you crank the volume.
