I always have wanted to try this kind of headphones, as the idea is good: generating a sound in opposite phase to the one coming from the outside should cancel most of it, leaving you with only the sound coming from the speakers.

I bought these headphones as a lightweight travel alternative to my normal heavy noise cancelling headphones. Read various reviews of other 'in ear' models stating that the active noise cancelling didn't really work. Risked the Philips because I hadn't...
