Sennheiser HD 429 Headphones Review

Comfortable, powerful, sublime.

Clear audio, comfortable to use, circumaural design provides some sound isolation

Unnecessarily long cable, low bass response

At the end of the day if you can live with the extra long cable and don’t mind the low bass response (unless you use an equalizer or external amp), the Sennheiser HD 429 provide exceptional audio quality for the money. They’re comfortable, easy to use...

Sennheiser HD 429 budget headphones review

Design isn't the only place the money's been spent. The HD 429s feel a little more convincingly built throughout, and the gold-plated 3.5mm and 1/4in adaptor jacks are good to see. You also get more cable: 3m of 3.5mm audio wire means you can stray a...

You admittedly pay quite a bit more for a fairly small improvement in sound quality, and from a purely aural standpoint, the extra cash isn’t terribly well spent. However, the Sennheiser HD 429 budget over-ear headphones are smaller than the AKG K77s,...

Great value, very light and comfortable

Great for anyone who wants to listen to music and also handle phone calls easily. Super light and comfortable.

Bought as a Christmas present, on holiday sale. Recipient is very happy! I tried these for a few minutes, compared to more expensive Sony MDR V6 and MDR 7506. These are lighter, and very comfortable. Sound is almost as good as the Sonys and better than...

Deep bass could be better, for example "Ophelia" on the Natalie Merchant live album. It's still good, just not on a par with higher end phones, but for the price it is more than good enough.

Sounds great with a bit of EQing

I got these after my 8 year old, daily use Sennheiser HD 202's started shorting out. I was a bit concerned about spending twice as much as it would cost to buy a new pair of HD 202's but it seems these are a little better in just about every aspect....

Clean, clear, flat sound and comfortable on the ears. I was also surprised to discover that the "powerful bass" doesn't mean that the headphones have arbitrarily inflated lows, so things still sound pretty even.

A "flat" response is desirable in headphones, but I feel like this one has a bit of a peak on the mids. In order to listen to music at a high enough volume to be happy with the bass response, I had to scoop out mids from 250Hz to 2KHz.

Satisfied with purchase

Am very happy with the two i purchased. I use them when working out and when doing training in a noisy environment. They cut out a lot of the ambient noise...but not all...so I can maintain aware of my surroundings when out on the streets.

Simple, able to wear when taking calls

Headphones

Bought these for gaming and they are more than adequate for that purpose and do a reasonably good job listening to music. There are much better sets for music and a lot worse sets for either function.

Fit well, good sound, good price, so far appear to be well constructed.

Sound not as good as a higher priced set, but not tinny

Average headphones but good value

Comparing to my 4 year old Klipsch Reference ONE headphones, I wanted a reasonably priced pair of headphones I can use at work. When comparing the sound output, the Sennheiser is clean but about 40% as efficient as the Klipsch. This is very surprising...

Great value

low quality output volume needs to be set very high

Amazing!

Really amazing headphones. Not only are they super comfortable, the long cord is great for a desktop setup. Sounds is better then any headphone I've tried for the great price of $35. Would recommend to anyone that doesn't have over the ear headphones

A little loose around too of head

Works like a champ

I went from using Razer Ear buds to these and I am somewhat disappointed as I feel I need to spend $20 and get an inline Amplifier in order to have the same volume that the Razer's had (that were 4 years old). The sound reproduction beats the Razer...

Concise sound, long cord, comfortable pads for long wear (I use them to listen to music via Google Play while walking to work). They don't feel heavy when I wear them. Music reproduction is magnificent and I am able to really hear all the music and the...

The sound isn't very loud. I have to turn my phone volume all the way up to hear them without straining. I would expect them to be louder as they are with my Sennheiser headset I use for gaming that are 9 years old
