Sennheiser HD 558

In the modern era of headphones, the focus is often on compatibility with mobile devices and computers, not to mention booming bass or wireless use. Thus, it's truly refreshing to see a no-frills headphone pair like the Sennheiser HD 558 . At $179.95...

Superb audio performance with rich bass and excellent sense of space. Extremely comfortable. Strong value for price

Open design projects some sound outward?not ideal for recording studio or office use. Connection is ?-inch?high quality, but not ideal for listening on mobile devices or computers

The no-frills Sennheiser HD 558 is easily one of the best-sounding headphone pairs available in its under-$200 price range, but it isn't designed for easy use with mobile devices or computers.

Sennheiser HD 558

Meet the HD 558, Sennheiser's successor to its successful HD 555 open-backed headphones. While it doesn't appear at first glance that Sennheiser changed much in the HD 558, it does provide a decent performance bump from the older headphones, and users...

Very flat frequency response for mids, highs ; Replaceable cable ; Aesthetically pleasing

90Hz and below drops off substantially

comfy comfy comfy

well worth the price, i recommend any headphones from sennheiser. they are the best headphones i have ever owned

extremely comfortable - can be worn all day and not even feel them ; good all around sound quality ; very long cable

leaks a lot of sound - what you are listening to can be heard by others around you

good can under 200

Good can under $200. The ability to detach the cord makes it more convenient for storage when not in use. Too bad this product does not come with a storage bag. 6.3mm audio jack plus adapter is a bit bulky when use with your ipod. Sound quality is good...

fine sound, less comfort

The sound is indeed very good. But the plush ear covers are not enough to make them comfortable for me becuz the whole framework is very bulky and inflexible. Maybe most people don\'t want to use the headphones lying in bed, but if you do they get...

What? I can't hear you

I'm not an audiophile but I do play games that require excellent sound and these are the best I have had yet! Battlefield has never sounded better, the sound is much more complex than I realized with any past headphones. I would buy them again!

Crisp and clear from low to high. Excellent range of frequencies for myself ; Very comfortable and lightweight ; Louder than you will ever need

No in line volume control ; Not noise cancelling ; Made me realize I need a new sound card to keep up with my headphones

Low (no) power rating

Sennheiser sound

Easy to rupture the transducers. Sennheiser provides no power rating for their HD555 to HD598 headphones, including the HD558. See their own product data sheets. My guesstimate is that the 558s can't handle more that 500mw .... because I blew a pair...

Consumer review by: The Empire Strikes Back with these

Replacing my last pair of Razer Carachias, and I must say that these are so so much better. They are far more comfortable during gameplay, the mids and lows are amazing and even the highs are still super crisp, there is a little tiny bit of sound spill...

A little expensive but when compared to a pair of Beats or the Logitech G35's, these really are a more sensible option the sound and price are way better on these ; Maybe would have liked a Mic, but without a mic they are far more versatile
