Sennheiser HD 580

If you want absolutely crystal clear, comfortable, and moderately priced headphones for music and gaming, seriously consider the Sennheiser HD580s. Many audiophile quality stores will have generous return and exchange policies, so be sure to give them...

Audiophile quality sound ; extremely comfortable ; open design great for LAN parties

Requires an amp to fully enjoy ; not suitable for portable players

Overall, the Sennheiser HD580s perform superbly, and produce absolutely beautiful, balanced, and spatial sound.

The Sennheiser Trio: HD580, HD600, HD650

This all started when I got a HD600 loaner from Jay. I told him I haven't listened to the HD600 for a while, and asked him if I can borrow his HD600. Being the generous

It’s true that the HD650 deserves the higher position in Sennheiser's line up, as it also scales up beautifully with every upgrades in the components behind it. And yet, the HD600 continues to wins a lot of fans due to its more universal nature.

These headphones are used in our recording studio as true references. If it sounds good it them, it is good.

Got mine 5 years ago,.. beware every 2 years or so the cables wear out and you have to drop another $20 on a new one. Just had to do that.

Customer review

These headphone sound great out of the box. But after a few hours of full spectrum(20Hz -20,000 Hz) sweeps they must have "burned in" and they surpassed fidelity I first found so amorous! Paired with a modified X-Fi FPS sound card.

Eggceptional attention to quality ; very comfortable to wear. Detactable siganl cable for upgrades. Very musical. Good engineering

None @ $150

Great bang for buck

I own the 600 version. it's only a fine tweek of this unit. Price difference isn't worth it, especially at this price. Check out Headroom's amplifiers - really nice stuff.

So good that studios frequently use these. Your electronics are the real limiting factor. The cord is even plug-in replaceable

Know what I said about the electronics? You will probably notice and need to upgrade them;) These aren't terribly portable either

Excellent Headphones

If you are looking for extremely high quality sound and not the crazy high end prices these are it!

Amazing headphones. Comfortable even for a long time, incredible range and perfect sound. I have been using a 300W 7.1 surroundsound system off a very high-end soundcard and these produce much better sound

Whatever you are running them on will need a good amount of power to get the full low end capacity off these. Also it is very likely that they will spoil you rotten on great sound and you will never be able to go back

Buy these if you live in an apartment.

As it's been said over and over, plugging them directly into a soundcard sounds terrible. I have to use these with my RCA Pro receiver. This also means they aren't going with me to LAN parties unless the receiver goes too. I may end up buying a...

They're like speakers for your head. Bass thumps are so powerful you can feel it in your neck. I got these for late night gaming so I wouldn't disturb my neighbors, at the same time it sounds even better than my 5.1 speakers, so works out for both of...

They squeeze my head a bit. First time trying them on actually hurt a little, so I carefully streched them over a pillow overnight, really made a difference the next day

Quality Headphones

Good headphones. Sennheisers are always durable and sturdy. I like them.

I bought these headphones mainly for Counter-strike Source in order to hear nubs. I can hear nubs with precision, but still have to guess if they're above or below me (of course). Weird thing is I get better sound with my Soundblaster Live! card than...

No volume adjuster on the cord. Have to adjust the volume constantly through windows volume control
