Sennheiser HD 600

The Sennheiser HD 600 headphones are a good choice for home listening if you're willing to pay for high-quality sound.

Sennheiser's high-end open-air headphones deliver deep bass, luxuriously padded ear cups, and a replaceable cord for a more economical price than their flagship model

Expensive; not the best solution for portable listening; gray and black plastic finish doesn't scream high end

Sennheiser HD 600 Headphone Review

It's not often that I review headphones as most of the models I've heard aren't much to write home about. However, upon speaking with Ivy Scull of HeadRoom, she sold me with a pretty convincing argument about the sonic joys of a quality set of cans...

Phenomenal fidelity ; Unparalleled comfort ; Works well with a variety of sources

Big and bulky ; Too nice for a travel companion

Sennheiser HD600 Headphones

Reference sound quality that can’t be beat for the price. Sennheiser's reference headphones have been surpassed by the new HD650s, but the HD600 remain a real bargain. Exceptional build quality

Have been surpassed by the new HD650s. Slightly uncomfortable. Somewhat forward sounding

A reference pair of headphones that offer a true taste of high-end audio at a very affordable price and can be improved with a third party cable.

A premium offering with great dynamics

Sennheiser HD600

Of all the headphone specialists, Sennheiser probably offers the broadest and most closely spaced range, with something for practically every conceivable application.

Lively, broad dynamics, Attractive and comfortable

Not the most detailed treble

The excellent dynamics and lively sound of this practical model can't quite match the detail of better headphones

A great all around headphone with a slightly warm sound that will suit some people, but the treble has a distinctive roll off and depending on your needs there may be cheaper alternatives.

Brilliant mid and vocal sounds, Prominent strong bass

Clamping effect on some people’s heads, Costly, Treble rolloff

Sennheiser HD 600 headphones review

The Sennheiser HD 600 headphones are a good choice for home listening if you're willing to pay for high-quality sound

Luxuriously padded earcups ; Included adaptor

Expensive ; Not the best solution for portable listening ; Grey and black plastic finish doesn't scream high end

The relative lack of warmth to Chris Wood's upright bass and slight lack of punch to John Medeski's ascending bass line on the piano on the Sennheisers compared with the Denons is more apparent, but again is mainly a side effect of the open design. If...

Even though I have outed myself as a fan of closed headphones, that hasn't stopped me from thoroughly enjoying the Sennheiser HD 600s for the last few weeks. They are exceptional headphones and, in my opinion definitely worth the money, especially if...

"Great Musical sound, outstanding comfort and build."

The HD600, HD650 and Q701 are in the same class of higher end sound. The rest of my headphones fall below. The next class is HD595 and ATM-500. I will say my QC15 are fantastic noise cancelling but with major quality issues of one side quiting out....

Out of all the headphones I have, I find the HD600 the most enjoyable. The HD650 are at times better but overall I enjoy the HD600 the most.

There is always better, but these are great headphones.

Product Specifications

Sennheiser has extended its range for the audiophile: enthusiasts of classical music will want to try the open-back HD 590 Prestige. Using selected quality materials, these headphones have been designed with unadulterated listening pleasure in mind, making them the top model of Sennheiser's 500 Series. The HD 590s feature large-surface "Duofol" diaphragms, a special diaphragm consisting of two foils welded together to reduce standing waves to an absolute minimum. A new transducer orientation ensures better localization of sounds and a superbly natural sound reproduction.
