Sennheiser HD 598

Remarkable Sound ; Extremely Comfortable ; Lightweight

Unattractive Color ; No case/pouch ; Awkward with portable media devices (long adapter)

Based on the merits of sound quality alone, we would rate the HD 598 a 9.5. These cans sound remarkable, perhaps the best we’ve heard under $500.

Sennheiser HD 598

We typically scoff and prepare for the worst whenever we see the word “audiophile” in the marketing for any headphone that we see cross our desks, because we've been exposed to some of the crazy things that people will buy simply because it's branded...

Superb frequency response ; Very comfortable

Not at all portable ; Isolation is all but nonexistent

Stunning headphones, another good showing from Sennheiser.

Sennheiser HD 598

The Sennheiser HD598's high-gloss burled wood accents, thickly padded headband, and ear cushions all lend a luxurious feel to the design. The tan-and-beige color scheme is a nice alternative to Sennheiser's usual gray or black finishes. In addition to...

Lightweight German design is extremely comfortable; highly dynamic and detailed sound; 3.5mm headphone plug adapter.

No storage case included.

The new HD 598's "wow" styling updates the classic Sennheiser look, and the sound has more detail and higher resolution than previous models. We recommend these cans to anyone looking for a pair of headphones with precision sound quality and a...

Sennheiser HD 598

Great performance overall, but clearly made for indoor use.

Superb frequency response; Very comfortable

Not at all portable; Isolation is all but nonexistent

Our final verdict? These headphones are great. Not only do they provide a flat frequency response and clear sound, but their open soundstage helps provide a very realistic sound. Though these cans aren’t perfect (we’re still waiting on that to happen),...

Sennheiser HD 598 – Very comfortable

Sennheiser HD 598 feels really comfortable in the ear and according to me, it is the most comfortable headphone set I have ever seen to date. I had it on for several hours along with my iPod Touch and my ears didn't feel any fatigue at all. The sound...

Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones

No need for any introduction here. Sennheiser is a well respected brand name in the audio industry and its headphones and in-ears are known to be loved by audiophiles. The new HD 598 headphones are an over the ear headphones with an open-air design....

Overall I think the sound quality is great and the HD 598 will appeal to people who appreciate good sound. I don't think the price fits the build quality though and the lack of color selection is disappointing. Price $349.95.

Old and New: HD555, HD558, HD598

After spending more time with the new HD558 and HD598 headphones, I begin to form a fairly solid opinion on the two of them. There are a lot of popular open headphones on the $100

While the HD598 is certainly the star among this trio, I’m still waiting to see the actual street price before making the final verdict. It’s a shame that I don’t have a HD595 around to make a direct comparison. But, based on the HD555 & HD558...

Sennheiser's New HD558 and HD598

Sennheiser just released the new HD558 and HD598 headphones, which are successors to the mid-level HD555 and HD595 headphones. The HD558 now wears a slick, all black look, while the HD598 took an

I also think that the old mid-fi soundstage king that is the AKG K501 has also been dethroned. Compared to the HD558/598, the K501 still has a bigger soundstage, but that’s about it. The HD558/598 has a much better overall soundstage performance,...
