Comfortable and clear sounding, but the huge amount of bass is an acquired taste.

Sennheiser HD 228

Sennheiser's HD 228 closed-back headphones are designed for those of us who commute on noisy trains or buses. Closed-back headphones lack some of the fidelity of their open-back cousins, but compensate for that by excluding much of the background noise...

That, however, is our only complaint. Bass is good for this type of headphone, there's plenty of treble and detail, and we appreciated how comfortable they were, particularly on extended commutes

Quite good

I bought a pair of these, and a pair of HD238s after accidentally destroying my PX100s on a flight. The HD238s are a little brighter, and have a little less bass than the HD228s, but I planned to use the HD228s (because of the closed back design) at...

Outstanding bass response (unlike the PX200), excellent music reproduction

Not as bright as the Sennheiser HD238, or PX100

SENNHEISER HD228 3.5mm Connector Supra-aural Stereo Headphone

I can't say much about Sennheiser's other products. I guess I just figured you couldn't go wrong with a German-made product and Sennheiser had been recommended by an acquaintance, but these are the absolute worst pair of earphones I have ever owned....

One of the reasons I invested in these headphones was because they're not half as hideous as many of the other choices out there

I tend to wear headphones because I want to keep my music to myself when I ride public transportation or suffer through a fourteen-hour trans-Pacific flight. These headphones are louder than my speakers when attached to a computer and nearly inaudible...
