Skullcandy PLYR 1 Gaming Headset

The Skullcandy PLYR 1 gaming headset combines wireless performance, simulated surround sound, and flexible connectivity into a single attractive package.

Excellent sound quality. Strong bass. Optical audio passthrough. Charging base doubles as a stand for the headset when not in use

Can't offer true surround sound. Headset can feel slightly cheap compared to more high-end gaming headsets

You can't get true surround sound in headphones. This makes designing gaming headsets tricky, when directionality can offer an edge. Fortunately, while true surround sound isn't possible in a headset, you can get a passable facsimile with stereo...

Skullcandy PLYR 1 Gaming Headset

The Skullcandy PLYR 1 gaming headset combines wireless performance, simulated surround sound, and flexible connectivity into a single attractive package.

I played a few rounds of Team Fortress 2 with the PLYR 1, and it performed admirably. While the surround sound effect wasn’t “genuine,” it provided the slightest illusion that the Heavy firing his mini-gun behind me was actually behind me, thanks to a...

Skullcandy PLYR 1 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

The first game I played with Skullcandy's PLYR 1 headset was The Last of Us.That's not a point in its favor, or a knock, for that matter. Rather, it's a funny coincidence. The Last of Us is the best PlayStation 3 game I've ever played. Skullcandy's...

Sound is stellar. WOW ; Ease-of-use and PC compatibility ; Stylish and comfortable

Weird volume dial design ; Tinny treble extremes ; Snug out of the box

If you don't already own the market-leading ASTRO A50s, Skullcandy's PLYR 1 Wireless Gaming Headset is the next best thing--terrific sound, ultra-convenient, and much cheaper to boot.

Freezes - Must be hard reset often.

the wireless was nice, but the mic would quit working so quick and then shortly after the whole left side will stop working. serious QC issues.

was a decent headset when it worked

very cheap build broke on me within 1 year and i went through hell with the RMA and when i did receive the replacement it broke within 6 months. very poor wiring. very thin wire that rips with normal use. also it needs an amp to get actual good sound...

Garbage - 3 broke in 4 months

First pair lasted 5 weeks. Had to go through Skullcandy to get a replacement and pay to ship them back. Those lasted 4 weeks. Had to pay again to send back for another set. Those lasted a week. Agreed on the phone with support that I'd get a refund....

None, these are garbage and Skullcandy support is worthless

Unreliable, poor quality

Terrible Quality - Stay far far away

I got these as a gift and read a lot of reviews before deciding if I should keep them. I read a lot of negative reviews about build quality. I just decided I would treat them like a baby and literally did just that. I can see how they could crack if I...

Comfy, great sound quality, battery lasts a pretty good length of time, look cool, and all the features I would want in a gaming headset

Headset died completely after 1 month and 1 day of moderate use. Quality of material feels very cheap

Changing my review

I have owned these headphones for over a year now and in that time I have had the headphone break twice for the exact same reason. The plastic housings that secures the earpiece to the headband will break because they are made of cheap materials. I...

7.1 Surround sound and very stylish. These headphones look like they would last a long time

They are not made for people with hair or people who have to extend the earmuffs to the maximum to fit over your head. I

Would not recommend, for the price

i would avoid this headset at all costs. defiantly not worth the price.

Nice sound, clear mic, good comfortable build & light weight. can wear for many hours straight without taking them off. This headset is great for music and movies but will defiantly not meet your needs for gaming

Way to expensive, for the headset. the surround sound is completely broken, and does not sound like anything close to 7.1. They also took a very long time to break the headset in

Like most, I take pride of ownership on these things, meaning no abuse. Better than normal wear and tear. I have enjoyed Skullcandy earbuds. I probably was hoping the PLYR1 price point was reflective of the quality. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Looked good out of the box. Not overly large and clunky. Range is good. Battery life not a issue

Plastic broke around the screws above the ear cups after five weeks on right side, left side broke two days later. Didn't expect to use the zip-ties so soon. Friends on Vent claimed low volume, confirmed by self recording and playback. Web videos would...
