SMS Audio Sync by 50 wireless headphones

50 Cent's wireless headphones deliver long battery life and big sound, but they're not the best overall value.

Slick sturdy design; Excellent battery life; Sync four headphones to single audio source

No active noise cancellation; Expensive; Can't use all the buttons in wireless mode

Click to EnlargeThe $399 SMS Audio Sync by 50 wireless headphones draws a lot of inspiration from their namesake, 50 Cent. They're big and flashy with a healthy dose of swagger and can put on a show. Beneath the shiny veneer, though, lies a pair of...

SMS Audio SYNC by 50 wireless headphones review

Ah, celebrity-endorsed headphones -- whether it's Beats by Dre or Soul by Ludacris, you've always gotta wonder whether their actual sound-reproduction

Wide soundstage, good clarity ; Lightweight fit ; Dependable wireless connection

Toss-up functionality ; Poor noise-isolation ; Middling bass-boost performance

SMS Audio's Sync by 50 headphones are an intriguing wired / wireless hybrid, but they aren't worth the price as-is. Here's hoping for gen two.

Sync by 50 wireless headphones review

The first news of a 50 Cent headphone line came at CES 2011, where the hip-hop mogul announced a partnership with Sleek Audio for the Platinum line of wireless headphones. Just a few months later Sleek confirmed that the parties had terminated their...

Wireless streaming works well ; Comfortable to wear ; Sound quality is good

Large footprint makes for difficult storage ; Dongle is flimsy and easy to lose ; Hardware controls don't always function

50 Cent's first headphone offering takes on the venerable Beats by Dre, but can they beat the Doctor at his own game?

SMS Audio SYNC By 50

Not to be left in the dust by Monster's now finished relationship with Beats Audio and their relationship with Dr. Dre, SMS Audio has partnered with their own rapper to produce another competing model of headphones. While the choice to make their cans...

Interesting design ; Wireless ability frees users from cords

Low audio quality ; Very pricy

The fatal flaw of heavily-marketed headphones.

SMS Audio Sync by 50 (black)

If the $399 SMS Sync headphones are any indication of 50 Cent's contribution to the audio industry, he should continue churning out rap albums, energy drinks, and Vitamin Water, but leave the gear to the professionals. These are the first Kleer...

Four SMS Audio Sync -equipped users can connect to the included wireless dongle for group listening, Kleer Wireless streams sound much better than Bluetooth, and SMS includes a 3.5mm cable to use when the battery runs out.

The delicate plastic housing and the flimsy 3.5mm dongle both suffer heavy creaks under light pressure, and the headphones don't fold up for easier transport. I'm also disappointed that the headphones don't actively cancel noise and that the single USB...

The Sync by 50 wireless headphones made the right move using Kleer technology for lossless sound, but SMS Audio needs to fix severe design flaws and lower the price before they're ready for battle.

SMS Audio SYNC By 50

The SYNC by 50s aren't inherently bad, they're just terrible for $500.

Interesting design.; Wireless ability frees users from cords

Low audio quality; Very pricy

If you’re seriously considering buying the SMS Audio SYNC By 50s, be aware that they fall short in frequency response, tracking and distortion, and that’s before you turn on the rather outdated RF wireless, which makes the performance even worse. While...

"Truly AWESOME Headphones with a couple minor flaws"

I've been using the Sync by 50 for a couple weeks now. In fact, I have them plugged into my MacBook Air right now streaming Pandora as I type this review. Since I also own the Beats Studio as well, I have to say I strongly prefer the Syncs. Here's the...

"pretty good headphones when compared to my beats studio"

first off these headphones are very expensive (i didn't pay full price, and got them with points) but you may get lucky and be able to find a good deal on them. the range on these headphones is great and the sound quality is on par with the beats...

"This is how C-NET reviews a $400 set of headphones?"

Wow, even the mighty C-Net's reviewers suffers from The i-Blinders Effect; i.e., style and packaging are what matters, the innards not so much.

At least the review mentions that The Sync by 50 headphones headphones aren't noise cancelling, though that feature sometimes conflicts with better audio quality.

Umm, do they sound any good?
