Sony MDR-AS50G

Sony has a winner with its MDR-AS50G sport headphones: They're lightweight, they fit securely, and they sound good indoors and outside. Their in-ear design is definitely geared towards fitness nuts rather than commuters; they don't block out a whole...

Great sounding; comfortable; very secure fit; modular cabling

minimal noise blocking

the AS50G's stand out with their low price and their ability to stay in your ears no matter how hard you sweat to the oldies.

Sony MDR-AS50G Active

Although the headphone market continues to burgeon with new models, it can be surprisingly tough to find a decent, fitness-friendly pair. A few companies, such as Sennheiser , have stepped up to the plate with sport-branded earphones, which feature...

The Sony MDR-AS50G Active Headphones feature an innovative design that spirals down for easy, compact storage, and it helps to ensure a secure fit. The modular cable is ideal for fitness and portable applications. The sound quality is good, and the...

The Sony MDR-AS50G's band tends to stick out from the sides of the head, which can make it hard to conceal under hair. The band is not adjustable, so not all users will be able to have it loop behind the ear.

The Sony MDR-AS50G Active Headphones offer an affordable price tag, a secure fit, and good sound quality--they're a fantastic option for gym addicts.

"Worked great for about 2 years"

These worked great for about 2 years, but I kind of like stereo sound :) so after the right ear died, I'm going to try a different brand. Had Sennheisers last time, done with Sony for now, think I will give Philips a shot.

Great sound, fit my ears/head perfectly, did not fall out while running, nice to have expansion cord for plugging into other devices, case a nice extra to keep cord from getting tangled/mangled.

Right ear died right around the 2-year anniversary of purchase.

"Favorite Gym Headphones"

I bought the Sennheiser OMX 680 to replace them, which after testing I don't like at all. (The sounds is great, but the comfort and fit are poor) I will be returning them and I have just purchased a replacement pair of these Sony's on Amazon.

The in-ear design is great for minimizing external noise (like a near by step class in the gym). The band around the back of the head holds the earphones in place, fit close to my head and doesn't get in the way on weight machines and benches. I love bein

The only problem I've had with these is that my right channel just recently died, and most stores no longer carry them. The new Sony models are not as superb in my opinion.

"Very light, packable, comfortable & stays in place."

Great set of headphones if you value lightweight, packability, comfort, quality appearance, ability to stay in place while being active & ability to hear the world around you(with the earbuds resting on but, not inserted in your ears). I love these.

Super light & I absolutely cant shake them out of place. That's with the earbuds just resting on my ears. Wearing them like this they put almost no pressure on my ears & I feel I could wear them forever. The sound is good enough & I can hea

The comfort level goes down from ultra supreme to just excellent with the earbuds pushed in. I can hear some tinniness when I fully insert the buds & listen to certain parts of certain mp3's. Winding everything into the carrying case takes some prac

"Defective!!"

Do not buy this product if you plan to exercise with it. In fact, do not buy it at all because it is defective. CNET should be more responsible and avoid recommending a product with such a serious, known defect. CNET should remove this from its "best...

If it worked, it would be a pretty good headset.

I worked out with this headset for about 3 weeks and then - boom - the right ear died. I was suprised to discover through online research that this is a common problem and may be why this product is not readily available at many stores.

"no bass, low volume"

I really wanted these to work because it's truly the first pair of headphones that got it right on the fit. In the end I just couldn't get past the poor bass and low volume. I tried adjusting the EQ settings and different size buds but still didn't...

"First headphones i can actually work out with"

All other headphones i have had either 1. Popped out when i was on the treadmill 2.Made noise when the cord brushed against my shirt or 3. Popped out when my hand accidentally yanked on the cord while i was running. These headphones fit securely enough...

i have been through at least 5 different headphones in the last few years and these have been by far the ONLY ones i can comfortably workout with. The fit is by far the best if you are looking for an active headphone
