How to Buy the Right Headphones

Like Sony's in-ear MDR-NC22 noise-canceling earphones, the new MDR-NC40's best feature is its price: Both pairs are only $100. The MDR-NC40 isn't an in-ear model but a supra-aural set of headphones, meaning that they sit on the ears without creating a...

Affordable. Compact, collapsible design. Decent noise cancellation. Enjoyable audio performance with solid bass performance.

Takes a standard AAA battery instead of a rechargeable cell. Battery pack is in the middle of the headphone cable.

Though not as effective in eliminating ambient noise as more expensive sets from Bose and Sennheiser, the MDR-NC40 delivers quality audio performance and noise cancellation that's impressive considering its $100 price tag.

Sony MDR-NC40 Review

A little more magic of noise cancellation

Sony mdr-nc40 is the fifth model from the house of Sony offering the latest sound capturing facilities. It is better known to people as noise cancellation facilities. The benefit is you can listen to music in noisy streets as well. It is a light weight...

Most of the reviews for Sony mdr-nc40 tell you the same thing. It does not meet up expectation of the Sony followers. Although this is the fifth model of headphones launched by the electronic leaders of the world, this model is not much updated from...

Brilliant purchase

I am extremely happy about my purchase. As with all Sony products the build is immaculate, the headphones sound great. The carry case is a bit complicated but works well.

Beautiful, but that's all.

This headphone is a really bad choise. with high power noise or low power noise the effect is the same, low reduction. Has a really good bass (but the bass works only with 1x AAA battery). Over-ear or in-ear headphones can make the same noise reduction...

Don't Buy Them

I understand that these headphones may seem relatively cheap in comparison with other on-ear noise canceling headphones but the the cheap build quality override this plus. Honestly, it shouldn't be called a noise canceling headphone because it doesn't...

Not good noise-cancelling

Sony usually puts out high-quality stuff, but these only cancel MAYBE 15% of ambient noise. They are comfortable and sound great, but trying them with the supplied battery and a new one resulted in the same anemic noise cancellation. They would be good...
