Sony MDR-V55

DJ headphones with bassy sound that won't offend the audio purists. Much.

Bags o' fun sound ; Decent looks ; Powerful bass ; Decent clarity

Not very comfortable ; Creaky plastic frame

Sony MDR-V55 review

Do these cans sound as good as they look?

Looks good ; Cushioned ear cans ; Foldable design

Sound quality not that great ; Short lead

It's a shame, these headphones look the part, and at lower volumes sound OK, but listen to anything reasonably loud and you'll be disappointed.

Sony MDR-V55 headphones

Thanks largely to a certain brand of celebrity endorsed headphones, wearing proper headphones in the street is now socially acceptable. The Sony MDR-V55 offer themselves up as "DJ style" so, as Sony puts it, you can take your tracks to the street. We...

Flexible, comfortable, sound great

Leak sound, cable a little short

We liked the Sony MDR-V55 as soon as we set eyes on them. The plastics used in the construction are perhaps a reflection of the affordable price point, but they've been sturdy enough in the time we've been using them.

Sony MDRV55

The Sony MDRV55 headphones provide generally good quality sound and comfortable wear at a relatively low price, but miss out with no iPod in-line remote.

Generally very good sound ; Excellent value for money ; Excellent comfort

Some vocal sibilance ; No in-line iPod remote control ; No pouch

While you don't get a pouch, you do get generally very good sound (a touch of sibilance aside) at a very respectable price. The Sony MDRV55 headphones are excellent value for money

Uncomfortable but decent sound

The sound is pretty good. It seems fairly durable (by headphone standards) - no small thin pieces of plastic holding it together. The cord is a bit short but not too short. The cord seems like it won't break down easily.

These are NOT over-the-ear headphones. These are ON-ear headphones - unless you have tiny ears, they'll rest on the edge of your ear, instead of surrounding your ear like over-the-ear headphones are supposed to. As a result they are very uncomfortable...

Quality Sound

I bought these Sony MDR V55 head phones recently after reading reviews for a quality sound product that didn't cost over the odds.

Lucious sound, great style

Wanted something to use chilling in the cafes which would do my music justice and also shut out noise as it gets pretty loud when crowded. I find these very snug, the sound quality is fantastically rich and I've been told they look really cool. The...

Sony V55 Headphones

Very pleased with headphones. They have a good sound quality with a nice deep bass. The appearance is good and build quality is good. Would have liked more padding on the headband, still I'm satisfied with the product. One problem is they did not work...

A real shame

Tested for 2 weeks. Sounds very impressive. BUT .. They creak constantly and became uncomfortable after 20 minutes or so. (I do have quite big ears though!!). Sent back today for a refund. Sorry.
