Sony MDR-V900 headphones review

Oh, what a difference a year can make. When I bought my Sony MDR-V700s in early 2004, the V-900s cost twice as much (over $200), and have identical specs, so I went with the V-700s. A year later, Sony has replaced its entire line of headphones,......

The MDR-V900s fit my requirements for all-purpose headphones perfectly. They are so comfortable that even after more than seven hours of continuous use on a flight to the UK, my ears were not the slightest bit sore. The sound, after some heavy EQing...

A treat!!!

Great construction unlike the v700 and the sa1000. I believe these will last a while. My v700 and sa1000 both broke where the head piece meets the cup...but the sound was awesome. These v900hd sounds better than my previous headphones and the...

Sound is crisp throughout the spectrum...especially the highs. Cushions are very comfortable around the ear

The dark brown color of the cushion is little dated...why was it not black

DJ/ Producer use as well as daily commuting

First of all I see a lot of people saying that the leather flakes apart on these or the padding falls apart. well I've had these headphones for 5 years. I bought them from an authorized sony retailer and have used them often in all weather conditions,...

well built, nice color and look, great sound quality

interchangeable cord would have been a great feature

SONY MDR-V900HD

The headphones work very well but the biggest problem (in my opinion) is the color. I DJ every now and then and normally I try to match everything I use, black and silver. These headphones would be better if they could be changed to a different color...

Great sound, clear bass

Stay Away

These are incredible headphones. It's hard to believe that the material that comes in contact with humans is inferior; and flakes after a few years of ownership. Intolerable!

Great Sound

Perfect -Studio- Headphones!

I'm more than satisfied and I would recommend them, especially for musicians and for people who likes to listen high quality music.

I bought these headphones almost two months ago. In my opinion, these are perfect! I make electronic music in my little studio and that what I was looking for. They have very clear, high quality sound with "surround feeling" which won't make your ears...

Only thing is that price went even more down in a week i bought them. it was $199.99 :)

Model Number: MDR-V900HD

Overall the headphone is excellent in sound except for the material they used to cover the padding for the head and ear that flakes off and cracked easy.

Very nice sound including the bass

Very, very, very cheap material cover that brakes off easy

Product Specifications

Studio Monitor Series headphones incorporate state-of-the art engineering design to produce excellent sound quality and wearing comfort to accommodate high-end consumer or professional applications. Circum-Aural Ear cup design in the natural shape of the human ear positions the driver unit at a correct distance from the ear canal and creates a sealed resonance chamber over the earlobe itself, reducing pressure on the ear for a more comfortable fit, especially during extended listening sessions. Oxygen-Free Copper Voice Coil construction provides exceptionally high power handling capability of up to 3, 000mW. Amorphous Diamond Evaporated Diaphragm stiffens the drivers to maximize their tonal qualities while minimizing additional weight for much more natural sound. Folding Design with supplied carrying case offers the convenience of easier portability. Reversible Ear cups for Single-Side Monitoring let vocalists and musicians hear external surrounding sounds naturally while simultaneously listening through one side of the headphones. Cushioned Headband adds to wearing comfort and a better overall fit. Class 1 Oxygen-Free Copper (LC-OFC) connecting cord used here is highly conductive for maximum signal transmission with the lowest possible signal noise or distortion.
