Sony MDR-XB700

The XB700s are bassy and plush, and will uncomfortably dig into your skull as they rattle it around.

For the price, we could see these as a sound investment.

Like putting pillows on your ears.

If you are a bass-head the MDR-XB700 will suit you perfectly, with slow, powerful low frequencies prioritised over all others. For discerning music listening they are not so spectacular.

Plush, decent acoustic noise cancellation

Slightly recessed treble, heavy, short cable (and silly cable design)

Sony MDR-XB700 review

Cracking if you only listen to bass heavy tunes, not so good if you like guitars

Cosier than a four poster bed, great bassy sound on dance tracks

Lack of detail on guitar tracks, too big to wear out

One of the greatest headphones!

I mainly use these headphones to listen to music casually on my laptop. They are very good in bass and the sound is not muffled either. I can hear all the mids and highs clearly and while the bass is still unreal. I own several Sennheiser headphones...
