MDR-V600 Review

The studio monitor series headphones with OFC connecting cord

MDR-V600 is specifically designed and engineered for super-end auditory functions. A great aura-nomic design is comfortable for the listening ears. An OFC (oxygen free copper) connecting cord enables optimum signal transmission with minimum clarity...

Portability factor is a constraint for MDR-V600. It may not be fitting to every head perfectly. The sound quality is little bit muddy. The ear cups contain poor quality leather skins that peel off within a couple of years

WAY overpriced...earpads and headband peel and flake

I bought this model at Best Buy for about half of what they're selling for on Amazon, but even at that price they cost way too much for what you get. I think a fair price would be closer to $50-$60. The headphones have decent sound, I can't say it's...

The Real Deal.

Well, I think I'm just echoing what everyone else has said, but I think I can add a few tidbits. The sound quality is excellent. I think to get anything better you'd have to go up to a $200+ set of headphones. They sound MUCH better than a typical...

People that don't like these probably got them for the wrong reason

Let me preface this review by revealing that not 3 feet from my current position are Beyerdynamic DT880's, Grado SR60-i's, and a good chunk of the Sennheiser product range. My V600's are my oldest pair of cans and until just a moment ago were un-usable...

Built to last

I use these for dj'ing, and have run them for several years. The only thing that I had happen, is the thin covering over the earphones, and also on the headband will deteriorate and come off in little pieces. I finally took some duct tape and used it...

Awesome

They sound great and feel great. What more could be said? I am a highly intelligent person who can pick out slight differences in sound quality, and I feel love comming from the music. I had a little trouble in a back order problem, but that is...

These things have held up for years

I have owned these headphones for seven years at least... I can't remember exactly when I bought them, but I paid $200 for them at best buy. These are the best headphones I have ever owned. Only in the last couple years have they started to flake a...

Product Specifications

Covering a wide response range from low bass to very high frequencies, Sony's Studio Monitor MDR-V600 headphones are well suited for virtually any audio application including use with today's digital sources. Dynamic, closed-type construction keeps out ambient noise while creating a comfortable, sealed resonance chamber to maximize sonic purity. Studio Monitor series headphones incorporates state-of-the art engineering design to produce excellent sound quality and wearing comfort to accommodate high end consumer or professional applications. Circum-aural earcup design in the natural shape of the human ear positions the driver unit at a correct distance from the ear canal and creates a sealed resonance chamber over the earlobe itself, reducing pressure on the ear for a more comfortable fit, especially during extended listening sessions. 40mm driver unit is positioned within the earcup at an angle, which directly corresponds to the angle of the opening of the ear canal for the most natural listening experience possible. Neodymium magnet is small, yet five times more powerful than a ferrite magnet of comparable size, to provide a better headphone without increasing the overall size and weight of the driver unit. Copper-clad aluminum wire (CCAW) voice coil combines the strength and conductivity of a copper core with a lightweight outer coating of aluminum to expand and contract as electrical impulses pass through it, creating the physical movement of the diaphragm. MDR-V600 features reversible earcups for single-side monitoring to let vocalists and musicians hear external surrounding sounds naturally while simultaneously listening through one side of the headphones. Cushioned headband adds to wearing comfort and a better overall fit. Oxygen-free copper (OFC) connecting cord is highly conductive for maximum signal transmission with very low distortion. Gold-plated stereo Unimatch plug adaptor with built-in self-cleaning feature permits use with standard 1/4" jacks on hi-fi components or stereo mini jacks on personal audio products; screw-type design for a more secure connection. Gold plating maximizes contact efficiency to help prevent sound deterioration after many years of use.
