Microphone not consistent for language programs

I purchased this item to use with a language learning program that required speech and listening. The product might work fine just for Skype, but not for the purpose I needed it.

This is a computer headset. It has two jacks - one standard 3.5 earpiece jack and another 3.5 microphone jack. Ideal for Skype use. I like it especially for the small size. I bought this for five bucks on Amazon. Can't believe they are now selling it...
