Westone UM1

Westone, maker of ear molds that are then used for earplugs for musicians and medical devices, also makes headphones--in a very similar business model to that of the venerable headphone/monitor company Ultimate Ears. The good news is that the company's...

The Westone UM1 Single Driver True Fit Earphones offer excellent clarity and ample low-end response. The headphones are also attractively designed.

The Westone UM1's earpiece covers aren't always as secure as they should be.

Westone's UM1 Single Driver True Fit Earphones are a fantastic set of in-ear headphones for audiophiles who lack the money (or desire) to buy an ultra-high-end model.

Westone UM1 In-Ear Monitors review

After having been impressed with the Westone 4, we continue the pursuit for audio excellence but focusing this time on more affordable fare. After all, not everyone is willing to shell out Php 20,000 for a pair of in-ear headphones. The Westone UM1...

Good, balanced sound output, a huge upgrade from ordinary earphones ; Comes with a bunch of ear tips which makes it impossible not to find one that perfectly fits ; Tangle-less cord ; Stylish and fits the ear perfectly

Cord a bit short ; The rubber near the earphone jack is a bit too thick, a bit hard to insert with some iPhone 4S cases

If you were to ask me if the Westone UM1 is worth the Php 4,790 price it commands, I’ll answer with a resounding yes.

Westone UM1 Earphones

The Westone UM1 in-ear-monitors are aimed at people wanting good sound quality on the move without having to spend several hundreds of dollars. With a price of $109 they are Westone's contribution to a highly competitive price segment.

Excellent fit, Superb comfort, Balanced mids, 50" cable, Copes well with micro phonics, Well suited sound signature for most music genres, Open sound, Bang for the buck, Detailed sound, Barely enough bass for most music types

Bass extension, Amount of bass, Treble detail

There is no doubt about it, the Westone UM1s are a great pair of earphones for the price. With an estimated retail price of only $109 these headphones are well suited to take on the competition in this price segment. Their balanced warm sound signature...

Westone UM1

We've had a lot of IEMs (In Ear Monitors) come through the office recently. Westone's UM2s were a bit of a surprise packet and wound up as one of our...

Above average sound

Doesn't really keep pace with the competition

A decent IEM choice, but we’d recommend the Etymotic or Shure entry level models over the UM1 if you're looking in this price bracket.

"Great sound quality, not durable enough for the price."

I have owned two pairs of these--I replaced the first pair, which broke at the speaker and earpiece junction, because of their excellent sound quality and competitive price. However, those quickly broke as well in the same place. Be aware that this is...

Beautiful sound quality, very balanced. Comfortable earpiece with really good noise cancellation compared with other in-ear headphones I've tried.

Earpiece breaks after a few months. Design not sturdy enough.

"Awesome value"

Overall the UM1 exceeds the value of its price, fits comfortably and securely in my ear. The only drawback to me is the lack of lows. It could be perfect for most people, but as a bassist, its kinda hard to use on stage. Other than that, its perfect...

Great clarity without the annoying highs, smooth mids and sufficient lows.

The "sufficient" lows makes it inaffective for a bassist on stage.

"Small and lightweight, very comfortable and crisp sound"

Very good headphones but I think they are a bit over priced given their flimsy quality and lack of bass response.

The small size and very lightweight cable make these very comfortable to wear. The sound is very crisp and strong across the midrange.

After about 8 months of use one of the posts to which the foam ear piece snapped off despite them being handled with great care. They are delicate in this respect. I am waiting to see if Westone will replace them.

"Great sound, comfortable, well priced."

Comfortable. Great Sound. Great Customer service. I wish I would've tried more in this price range just to compare, but I've read great reviews about these and they have lived up to it. If you're on the fence, get them!

I have just gotten into the in-ear world. These are the most comfortable in their price range. The sound is well balanced, a good reference point all the way around. Good customer service.

The right driver was clipping, but got them fixed. The only cons are that they aren't dual driver, but we're not reviewing a dual driver piece. I really don't have anything negative to say about these. They are great.

"Best Sound"

I did some research on the web to find the best earpods for the money. When I found that the Westone's UM1 not only had great sound quality but that they were some of the most comfortable earpods out there, I decided to give them a try. I just received...

"Would recomend"

Buy them. Seriously just buy em.

These have a great sound quality. They stay in in very well, and since they form such a tight fit they isolate quite a bit of exterior noise. Extremly comfortable

Can be a bit of a pain is you constantly are taking them out and putting them back in.
