Labs Brief: Corsair Raptor HS40

Corsair adds to its Raptor range with a pair of less than convincing cans.

The HS40’s are quite large – used on what we’d rate as a large head they needed to be reduced to the smallest band size to fit comfortably. In the land in which they were designed the people must have noggins the size of watermelons...

Corsair Raptor HS40 Review

A little while ago Corsair acquired Raptor Gaming to bolster their entry level peripherals, we now look to the new HS40 USB gaming headset.

Choosing an entry headset on a tight budget can seem fairly daunting as you never know what to expect amongst the hoards of cheap looking plastic 'clackyphones'. However, in a sub £40 market, it is understandable that there are various aspects that...

half bad

As weirdly as it may sound , whenever my headset failed , so did my M90 Corsair Mouse 3 seconds after.

The price , less than 60 tx+shipping included for a 7.1 is worth it

Ordered 2 , 1 work still perfectly , the other already have an issue with the volume control on the wire. The wire inside that box seem broken

Works like a champ

I would not Have Bought this If I had been able to See it in Person First.

Ok Sound

Poor Craftsmanship Very Disappointed to See a Corsair Product Break so Easy Short in the Wire Just above the inline Controller. lasted less than 2 Months and I took very good Care of it and it Still Broke ;

Cheap....

Get something better, I thought I would go with a somewhat cheaper headset this time around after my astro's finally died after heavy usage for 4 years. Big mistake, save yourself the trouble these will break on you in no time at all.

good price ; easy to use plug them in and good to go

left speaker broke in less then a month ; feel flimsy

Corsair Raptor HS40

Great sound and mic response for the short time that it worked

I plugged the headset into the USB port on the front of my case, mic/volume control switch on the HS cord lit up. The auto install for the HS popped up and appeared to run smoothly, I used the headset without issue for about 3 hours. The next evening I...

Good headset

This is a good pick, especially when deeply discounted on sale. That's when I got mine.

Only use this headset for games, but I think the sound is great ; The microphone is sturdy, and has decent pickup range ; I really like the volume and mute control in the cable ; Nice long cord ; Comfortable after long gaming sessions

Sometimes it's very slow to switch sound to headset after it's plugged into the USB port ; I've had problem with the microphone settings changing between programs, but it's likely a software issue
