Voyager 835

Of the Bluetooth headsets we tested for our latest roundup, the Plantronics Voyager 835 ($120 as of December 1, 2008) is nothing to write home about: Basically, it looks like a plain black stick in your ear. Despite its boring design, its clear plastic...

Easy switch from right to left ear In-car charger

Call quality inconsistent No earbud, earhook replacements

A final quibble: Nearly every time I secured the Voyager on my ear, I hit one of the volume buttons, and it beeped. Mildly annoying

Plantronics Voyager 835

Plantronics' first dual-mic Bluetooth headset offers good noise-canceling performance for the money and comes with a car charger.

Comfortable, sturdy fit ; Good noise-canceling and wind reduction ; Includes a car charger

Extra ear loops or earbuds not included ; Stiff Answer/End button

In absolute terms, the Aliph Jawbone is still the best when it comes to removing unwanted sounds, and it has more style. However, Plantronics' Voyager 835 is sturdier and still offers good noise-canceling abilities. And when you consider that its list...

Plantronics Voyager 835

On the downside, Plantronics doesn't include any extra earbuds or ear hooks. Other manufacturers do, so you can get the best fit possible. To be fair, though, this is one of the best- fitting headsets I've tried recently. The earhook has just enough...

Clear, intelligible sound quality. Solid noise-canceling performance. Extremely comfortable to wear

Pedestrian appearance. Slightly robotic sound quality. Varying sizes of earbuds and ear hooks aren't included

The Plantronics Voyager 835's effective noise canceling, good sound quality, and easy fit make it a good choice for an all-day, workhorse Bluetooth headset.

The Plantronics Voyager 835 is no looker, but it sounds good, and you can wear it all day.

Plantronics Voyager 835

I have been told several times "I can't hardly hear you." Other times, with the same people, "sounds fine". These test are in the same location. However, the most frustrating thing has been this. Plantronics has sent me THREE 835 Voyagers. Why? None of...

Great PS3 Headset

I'm using this strictly as a PS3 headset for online gaming. Works great at a great price point.

price point, lightweight, clear sound

Gets a little uncomfortable wearing for longer periods

PLANTRONICS Over the Ear Bluetooth Headset (Voyager 835)

It got deducted two eggs because of the DOA (first would be 1 egg, second would be 5, averaged it out).

It does what it claims to do and does it well

First one had a dead microphone on arrival. RMA'd with Newegg and the second one was fine

DOA, won't charge

The earpiece *looks* fragile as it's clear plastic, but it *feels* reasonably solid and reliable. It makes an ineffectual paperweight, so I'm RMA-ing it. Hopefully the replacement will hold up to the standard the five-egg reviews are setting. I'll let...

Small, lightweight, well-designed, love the car charger design

DOA as the device will not charge - it "charges" (red charging light stays on) for about nine seconds and then stops. Leaving it plugged in to charge for several hours did not help. Suspected a defective LED but attempts to activate or pair the device...

Nice headset, easy to setup and use

This is a great headset for the price.

The noise cancellation works well, even at highway speeds. Sound quality is great. Volume controls are easy to use and change using one hand. Replaced an old Motorola bluetooth headset and I must say it is a nice upgrade

The connector to the power adapter is odd. There is a small "flap" over the connector on the headset that is a bit of a nuisance at times when trying to plug in to charge. Occasionally get static when on a call if the cell phone is on the opposite side...

Product Specifications

In the car, on the street or at the airport, be heard above the noise with the Plantronics Voyager 835 Bluetooth headset. Dual-Mic AudioIQ noise canceling technology provides clear sound by separating and enhancing your voice to minimize distracting background sounds. WindSmart technology reduces the wind noise your callers would otherwise hear. A comfortable, contoured eartip channels sound directly into your ear, so you can focus on what's important - your conversation. Plantronics QuickPair technology lets you easily pair your headset with your Bluetooth phone and multipoint technology lets you stay connected with two Bluetooth phones - like a PDA and personal phone - all from one lightweight headset.
