Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma review

Razer's 7.1 headset gives you the gaming edge for cheap

Confident design ; Great customization options ; Durable build construct ; PS4, Mac, PC compatibility

Uncomfortable after extended use ; Just a tad too expensive

Verdict

Although it is always nice to have a matching set of peripherals for aesthetics alone, you'll also want the performance to match. So how well does the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma actually perform?

Mic is very bad

Ears feel comfortable, sound quality is decent. Green led's are very nice

Mic is terrible. I'm not sure if its broken during refurbishing or if its just a bad product. The other end noticed much worse quality when compared to $15 mic. Glasses and these cans don't mix

Extremely uncomfortable

These headsets are VERY uncomfortable. I'm not talking about just wearing it for a couple hours. I'm talking about just maybe an hour. I do not have a big head and the cups/headband squeezes my head very tightly and its hurts alot. I do not how it will...

Good mic

If the cord rubs on your shirt, it will make a loud noise in your left ear cup. Very annoying ; Uncomfortable after a short period of time

Really good, few minor cons.

Other than those cons its a very good headset.

Very good 3D, surround sound and precision mic that lets me play games, talk on skype, and listen to music with no problem and the Chroma just goes great with my setup

There are however some slight cons I notice right off the bat. When nothing is playing there seems to be a low freq. buzz sound in the right ear, the headset might be a little tight around the bottom of the cuffs, and the cuffs are so big that I am not...

a very good product, a must have for gamer

Despite a few minor, this product is still stay strong on the top of my gaming audio devices. If you love it, get it. i'll give it 9.5/10. All the razer devices is light up my room right now and a spectrum Kraken Chroma just completed the set.

1.Very comfortable, i wore for hours after hours ; 2. Idk why people underrated the 7.1 surround of this, personally i love it, especially in FPS or horror games ; 3.The Chroma lightning effect is over-the-top, very stylish and egotistic ; 4.Mic is...

1.No volume rocker, i have to use my keyboard ; 2.The sound of the upper cord rubbing with my shirt collar is lound

Acceptable

All in all, it's a good headset especially for being refurbished. If you're looking for a cheap headset that sounds great and has a good mic, this is the one, though take the cons into consideration. Oh, and one more con; the price lowered by $10 a few...

Sounds great! Good hard-bass and treble balance. Believable surround sound ; Locks out sound from the outside world fairly well, but not too much ; Cord is overwhelmingly long and annoying, so less tangling. It also feels like cloth ; Gold plated USB ;...

Razer Synapse 2.0 must be installed for it to work. (but it doesn't have to be running in order for it to work, so you can close it.) ; You can't slightly hear yourself in the headset when talking like most mics do. Not a big deal but it would help...

Great whilst it lasted.

Overall I'm very disappointed in this headset, I have a complete razer set up and have mostly sided with razer when it comes to peripherals. Now in the future I will be purchasing other headsets that offer much more for a similar price. I'm not...

Sound quality is great, it's not superb, but its sound is better than other $50-$100 headsets that I've tested ; It's aesthetically pleasing if you're into the razer look

After a year of average use, and EXTREMELY careful handling, this headset is a disappointment ; The mic is average quality, with poor noise cancelling qualities behind it ; After about a year of average use, and as said above with superior care, the...
