Razer Tiamat 7.1 Gaming Headset Review

With the Tiamat 7.1, Razer is redefining the top end of the gaming audio line. Where previous headsets have had trouble creating a surround gaming experience through just two drivers, the Tiamat fits what is essentially an entire surround sound system...

High price; somewhat bulky

Razer Tiamat 7.1 Review

When Razer announced the Tiamat 7.1 surround sound headset equipped with 10 drivers (speakers), a good chunk of the gaming community got very excited by the prospect of being able to play with surround sound without making the neighbors go [...]

In the end, I think that the Tiamat 7.1 edge goes beyond its audio quality: it’s the industrial design – the whole package. The sad reality is that most people don’t really discern the differences in terms of sound “quality” (between “very good” and...

Razer Tiamat 7.1

The Razer Tiamat 7.1 is an excellent-sounding gaming headset with plenty of bass, and while it's pricey for a wired headset, it's one of the best we've seen yet.

Excellent bass response. Comfortable

Expensive. Surround sound still doesn't image quite as well as a surround sound speaker system

These are great!

There are a lot of naysayers on the internet regarding this headset. This headset is no gimmick. I think a lot of the negative reviews are by people who haven't used this headset, or are not tech savvy enough to make it great. Comments about the bass...

The directional sound on this headset is great. I play mostly Counterstrike: Global Offensive these days and these work great for footsteps in this game. The game only supports 5.1 so I can only imagine how well they replicate direction in a 7.1...

Listening to music with these is a mistake. With some tweaking you can make them sound decent in 2.1 stereo, but it's probably worth the investment to buy a set of audiophile headphones if you're interested in music ; This may not be as big of a...

Good Surround Not Best Sound

Probably the best surround sound/directional audio you can find in a headset. You can definitely tell when something is in front or behind you. The pass through cable makes hooking along side a surround sound speaker setup very easy. Bass is deep and...

Sound quality isn't as good as the Corsair Vengeance1500, which cost half as much. The 1500 just sounds better but doesn't have as good directional audio. No option to switch between 5.1 and 7.1. (these don't sound right in 5.1 mode, there is a silent...

These are the real deal

Have this and the Asus Xonar DX card to support true 7.1. I bought the Astro A50 before this and was very disappointed, thanks Razer for coming through for me!

Great sound ; Comfortable ; Mic is super clear ; Headband feels nice and auto-adjusts ; They look cool ; Bass is really good ; 7.1 feels amazing, was playing Diablo III with 7.1 and its crazy hearing stuff fall around your character and it really puts...

The only bummer is they aren't wireless, but that's okay as they are awesome ; Ear pads are a little on the small side, but honestly I don't even notice and they feel great no matter - so no egg loss here

Disappointment

I've owned other Razer products, and was never let down. I was never overly-enthused, either, but they did what I wanted them to do for a reasonable price. I took a chance on the Razer Tiamat and got burned. Within the first 3 months, something broke...

Works ; Comfortable ; Ease of use ; The volume control is cool

Poor VOIP Quality ; Microphone broke within 3 months ; Strange audio glitches. Sounds playing in wrong channel, too quiet, then suddenly too loud ; Price

Love them

They look great, the mic is wonderful (my old headset made me sound like a waterfall constantly), the hub is a great feature as i can switch between my speakers and my headset quickly, mute my mic and go between 7.1 and stereo all with the click of a...

Have yet to find any real flaws

First review, GREAT HEATSET

When I just plugged and played this, it wasn't as great as I expected. That was when I did some additional research and found out that buying a separate sound card will allow the headset to have its true potential unlocked. So I picked up an Asus Xonar...

Great sound quality ; Bass is amazing ; Control system is nice and easy to use ; Design looks really sick

Without separate sound card, it just doesn't sound as great

Extremely Satisfied

I am surprised this product has only 3 stars. Obviously it is because people order this thinking its a plug and play product. It takes a lot of tweaking and configuring with your computer settings to get this the sound good and the way you want it too....

Amazing sound quality (WHEN CONFIGURED RIGHT.) ; Very comfortable ; Ability to switch to and from desktop speakers ; On the fly bass/speaker adjustment with analog dial

Price ; Will sound very bad without a decent soundcard and not configured the right way. Took me an hour or two to figure out why these sounded so bad
