Very compact best for the small places

Cable lengths should be able to cut to required length without compromising the integrity and the originality

Very compact speakers, can hide the base module, remote works from any where in the house, best for condos

Few inputs, lengthy wires, extra VS2 enhancer

An Audio Enthusiast's Review

I have heard audio equipment costing as little as an $18 iPod dock to a pair of speakers costing $50,000. But, this is a review on the Bose Lifestyle 48, therefore speaker equipment that expensive is irrelevant. The audio equipment that is relevant,...

Easy set-up, low profile. But seriously, continue to read

Weak highs, no mid-range, boomy "fake" bass, no sub-bass. Out of date by today's home theater standards; it lacks 6.1 or 7.1 surround sound, Dolby Pro-Logic II, and a Blu-Ray player. Overall, it's extremely overpriced to the fullest extent

Avoid: UMusic system is waste of time

I bought Bose Lifestyle 48 System over a year ago. Overall video and audio are good, but minor problems include:

Audio and video ok; base response good

Remote control of other peripheral inputs poor; TV not controlled well in particular ; UMusic system is total waste of time - hours to load; 200 stored CD's can disappear in an instant if power goes out

Digitally store and organize up to 340 hours of music in the media center, featuring a progressive scan DVD/CD player. Bose link allows connections for compatible Bose products in as many as 14 additional rooms. Start with your main room - the size, shape, textures and other elements that affect the sound you hear. The ADAPTiQ system, found only in Lifestyle DVD systems, was developed to analyze your room and then adjust the Lifestyle system for a consistent, high-quality performance each time you listen. No need to move furniture, speakers or anything else to get the best possible sound in your room. Just sit in up to five of your preferred listening spots, and allow the ADAPTiQ system to automatically make the necessary adjustments. Consider the hassle of managing your treasured, but unwieldy, CD collection. The Lifestyle III 48 DVD system changes all that with unique Bose technology that stores up to 340 hours of music. The uMusic intelligent playback system actually listens to your music and learns your preferences, then makes selections based on what you like. No more searching for CDs or deciding which tracks to listen to. Whatever mood you're in, the uMusic system is ready with just the songs you want to hear.
