Samsung HT-C6500

As much we liked last year's slew of Blu-ray home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) systems, they still involved some features compromises, such as missing built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI connectivity. This year, Blu-ray HTIBs are filling in a lot of those holes and...

A 5.1 home theater system with built-in Blu-ray player; two HDMI inputs; outstanding sound quality for a home-theater-in-a-box system at this price range; Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, and Pandora streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; plays music, videos, and pictures...

No wireless rear speakers; requires a dongle for iPod connectivity, rather than a sleeker built-in design; buttons on top of the player are inconvenient; last year's Samsung Blu-ray players had reliability issues

The Samsung HT-C6500 packs outstanding sound quality, Blu-ray playback, and tons of features into an excellent home theater system, with only some design quirks holding it back.

Best home theater system with Blu-ray

The 5.1-channel Samsung HT-C6500 is one of the better performers, and one of the better values, among all-in-one home-theater systems. It is built around a combination Blu-ray Disc player/amplifier that's widely praised. Experts say that...

Value, sound, picture quality, lots of features

Past Samsung players suffered from usability problems, some reports of lip-sync issues

Samsung HT-C6500 Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theater System (HTiB)Review

A few minor caveats aside, the HT-C6500 is an impressive package and an incredible value.

The HT-C6500 price on Amazon is sometimes below Samsung's MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). If you do not see a visible price on the page, put the item in your cart and continue through the checkout process to view the current price.

"Total junk!!!"

Too many negatives to list here, other than to stay away from any and all Samsung products due to pathetic tech support, pathetic engineering, and overall pathetic products. Save your money and stay away from such a pathetic company. Did I mention how...

Picture and sound quality is acceptable - WHEN IT WORKS

Crashes several times during each movie, never consistent when switching between BluRay, Netflix, etc., Pathetic tech support

"Would be ok if around $200 cheaper"

Might be a great product in the $200 range...not impressed with the sound clarity. Bass is fuzzy. It locks up on media USB drives. I should have listened to all the negative reviews instead of listening to two online experts that probably got a free...

Does what it says

Sound not crisp as I would expect for the money I paid. The internet worked for about 2 days - enough for me to know I didn't want to use this slow beast for that...then the internet stopped working. It changes channels every couple days - on its own.

Deserves the lousy rating I gave it!

I'm appalled that an outift like Samsung would knowingly allow a manufacturing defect to remain on shelves to the detriment of consumers. This nonsense is the reason I am compelled to trash a product and company on the internet. If they don't have the...

Sounded great for two days ... right up to the point it stopped working

The third day of use brought flashing lights on the unit and an inoperative remote. Samsung said there's a known defect and that we could either ship it back (OUR expense!) for repairs (2-4 weeks) or return it for a refund to Wal-Mart

Excellent sound and picture for a sub $500 HTIB-C6900W

See my review of the HT-C6900W (not Cnet rated but their review of the C6500 applies). The C6900W is exactly the same unit as the C6500, the only difference being that the wireless rear module is included in the C6900W.

Clear and crisp sound with a good bass thump - the clarity of sound better than most HTIBs. Never had signal loss to wireless rear. Streaming internet media works well. Bluray/upconverted DVD picture on par with PS3. Speakers are small but loud

No manual front/rear/sub controls on remote. No eject button on remote. Streaming apps slower than PS3 (Netflix). Good disk load times but clumsier fast forward/rewind than PS3. Gloss black finish attracts finger prints. Menu access. 2 HDMI inputs
