LG LHB535 review

It would only seem appropriate that the 2010 line of Blu-ray HTiBs upped the ante over previous years. In 2009, we saw the rise of quality Blu-ray players bundled inside these all-in-ones, and for 2010 we're getting more systems with integrated Wi-Fi...

5.1 home theater system with built-in Blu-ray player; two HDMI inputs; Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, Pandora, and CinemaNow streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; plays music, videos, and pictures off a connected USB drive or via network; built-in iPod dock.

Sound falls a bit flat; better audio for music than movies; no automatic speaker calibration; no direct input buttons; doesn't support 3D Blu-ray.

The LG LHB535 offers an outstanding feature set for its price, but its sound quality is only passable.

LG LHB535 Home Theater in a Box

Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity review the LG LHB535 Home Theater in a Box.

The LHB535 is meant to be a one box solution for the average person and it accomplishes exactly what it’s supposed to, and more. A nice selection of content services and the Home Link make this a great media hub to access music, Netflix, and photos....

Great

Good Price, easy to set up. With its 2 HDMI inputs and 2 optical inputs, this is pretty much a receiver with a built in blu-ray player

Home Like can be aggravating to set up on Windows 7, mostly problems with Windows firewall. And be sure this has plenty of ventilation. Had to make a hole in the press-board entertainment center to prevent heat build-up

Great!

Volume goes very loud so not short on power at all. To power on with universal remote I had to use menu options and other tricks but it wasn't to bad to figure out. 2 HDMI inputs are great although I am only using one. Have not had any "buzzing" as...

Home link, internet streaming, iPod dock, 2 inputs, Wifi

Main menu screen a little slow and takes a few seconds to power on. Power on is toggle on so using a URC is tricky

HDMI connector bad

Set up a similar unit for a freind and it worked great, thats the reason I even gave this two stars instead of one. Hopefully, I can get this one fixed soon and then start enjoying it. Right now its a paper weight till I can send it to LG for repair.

great features two HDMI Inputs, one output. Wireless network. Blue ray

HDMI Connector was bad right out off the box. Called LG Tech support the same night I got the unit and we troubleshot the HDMI connector would not output to tv. The RGB works fine, but I bought it for the HDMI ; Still waiting for LG tech support to...

Nice features, but definite buzzing sound

I'm disappointed in LG for putting out a product with this (apparently common) problem, but the other features still make the unit 'acceptable' for the <$300 price range. Would be 4 eggs without the buzzing - sluggish menus would be the main...

Built in wifi gives easy access to youtube, netflix, etc ; Sound for loud movies/music is acceptable, which is great for the price ; Looks good ; HDMI ; Blu-Ray Player

Speakers sound a little hollow, but for under $300 it's to be expected ; Very sluggish menus, slow to turn on (~30-35 seconds) ; Occasionally crashes while loading/running discs - takes a while to load and has had problems scanning and jumping...

Disappointed

The surround speaker wires were about 3 feet too short for our room. I cut some off the front speakers, soldered and shrink wrapped.

Lots of connections. Not worth the price due to audio. I haven't tried a Blue-ray disk yet or the Home Link functions. Good set of front connections, including the obligatory iPod port

The sound quality is very poor! I couldn't save changes to the speaker levels via the remote "Speaker Level" button but had to go through Audio > Setup. While there, I discovered via the Test function that this LHB535 ; has the surround left and...

tech issues that LG should fix

Could be a great system, but the money is where the playback enjoyment is. If they can't fix a simple playback issue, there is a great annoyance when it freezes 4-5 times after I pause the show to refresh a drink.

very easy step; my wife set this up while I was in Iraq and had everything running (too include netflix download) in about an hour. Netflix and MLB work good (802.11N is strongly recommended; if you run a B/G/N network change to N only for video...

When playing my Battlestar Galactic BluRay disks, the video freezes after pausing. Was Ok at the start, but gets really frustrating at this persists. I understand compatibility issues at the start, but this is a boxed set, not something that was...

so far so good

Haven't had it but a few days, but it's worked fine so far. Sounds good, I haven't gotten a blu ray to play in it yet, but it's worked fine as a DVD player so far :P. Set it all up in an hour or so and was watching a movie from netflix in just a couple...

Only con I have is that I wish the cables were a few feet longer each. The front speaker cables seem to be meant more for a setup in a long, skinny room and not a wide, short room. So the places where my old speakers were, the wires need to be a bit...

somewhat satisfied

I am on my 2nd unit, the first was returned because of high pitch noise. The second unit sometimes has the pitch noise, but it is not as loud as before. I am disappointed that a brand new unit contains this problem, but i will take that up with LG. I...
