Onkyo HT-S5500 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver/Speaker Package Preview

The HT-S3500 is a true budget offering that provides a 5.1 channel receiver with HDMI 1.4a and 3D and throws in some speakers. The larger HT-S5500 may cost more ($649 vs $399) but you get more.

2 out of 4 HDMI inputs stopped working. One of the inputs works sometimes. Disappointed that it all started happening after the 2 year mark!

Great while it lasted

I wish I'd spent the money for a better system.

I read the reviews, but took a gamble on a black Friday deal. Once I received one that wasn't damaged setup was easy. Thank you new egg for making defective product returns easy! For about a month things were great, the sound was great and there were...

The subwoofer quit working after about a month. I was able to get it working again by unplugging it occasionally. Then the receiver stopped working. I looked through the troubleshooting guide and tried the suggested actions, no luck. Now I am wadding...

ONKYO HT-S5500

we used an aftermarket speaker wire right out of the box so we cannot attest to the stuff it comes with, but it really does sound amazing. Highly recomended

Wow, just wow.... sound is amazing. only use it on about 12-16 and rattles the house. very well made. a whole lot bigger than we thought it was going to be when we bought it. Truly is an amazing sounding system, cannot say this enough.

Sometimes with using the hdmi throughputs, gibberish appears on the screen. For just a second or two. not sure why.

ONKYO HT-S5500

Sounds great and it feels solid. The speakers feel solid and have a nice finish.

The reciever gets fairly hot, but this is probably normal. I couldn't use the automatic setup because it turned the subwoofer to "off" and I am not sure why. It sounds fine without the auto-calibration, though.

Works for my Application

Have not had any trouble with subwoofer so far. Nor any other issues. Good entry level HT audio system.

Low cost HT in a box. Works great for my application. Easy setup and installation. The input signal is automatically detected and correctly decoded by the receiver. It has optical, coaxial, HDMI, component, and USB inputs. Over the air broadcast 5.1...

HD audio sounds great but other audio signals (i.e. turntable, radio, etc...) sound so-so. Not a system for audiophile.

Good for the price range

For the price, I wasn't disappointed. Just keep in mind this is a mid range system, it will provide pretty good sound, but not blow you away performance....

I bought the system on a black Friday deal for 200$. It was well worth the money. Good speakers Good highs Good mids Not complicated

So-so bass Optical input from my computer has problems now and then.
