Performance

Onkyo HT-S770 (black)

Component-style 6.1-channel receiver; full-size speakers; 10-inch powered subwoofer.

You need to supply the DVD player; not exactly the prettiest HTIB on the block.

If you can handle a bulky setup with big speakers and a bigger sub, this is the go-to HTIB.

Onkyo HT-S770

This big, outrageously good sounding system trounces those sleek 'n' sassy HTIBs.

Acoustic music revealed a lack of refinement in the HT-S770's capabilities. Vocals sounded strained, pianos were a tad strident, and violins exhibited a steely edge. Even so, we'd be hard put to recommend a comparably priced HTIB that could better the...

Great value HTIB, you won't be disappointed

There's really two routes to take in home theatre: piece together your own system, or buy a "home theatre in a box". Building your own gives you nearly infinite customizability, and lets you mix and match components. A HTIB solution makes it easy: ...

Awesome system if installed correctly

Excellent complete sound.

I could not mount the front speakers to the ceiling due to size.

Best HTIB for the money. Period.

Onkyo is known for their recievers and the reciever included with the HT-S770 is no exception. It outputs plenty of clean power, processes every signal known to man (DD, DTS, DD ES, DTS ES, etc), and is very easy to set-up. The reciever by itself costs...

Onkyo HT-S770 Theater System

cheap, easy to setup, good sound for the money, convenient

for similar money a superior system can be pieced together, over-inflated power ratings

great system for the price

This HTIB (home theater in box) has received tons of praise as well as criticism from the "Home theater community" on the internet. Most will agree that if you're going to get a HTIB, Onkyo is the way to go, as the receiver is rather high quality when ...
