Excellent HTiB Solution

All in all, I like this system. A friend of mine spent over 2k for his sound setup(7.1 Sony Receiver, 2 Polk A5s, and remaining satellites from the former Klipsch 5.1 system he had), and he is still impressed by what I got for the money I paid.

Great sound and support. The 7.1 is impressive ; 192KHz support for all those high end blu rays, like Akira and Chronos (the standard being 48KHz) ; Good on screen menus ; THX

Large system, speakers weigh 8 to 11 lbs, with the receiver and sub in excess of 25 lbs. Not Onkyo's fault, but UPS destroyed the box getting it to me, I am surprised the system survived ; Slight delay when starting audio on something (only the initial...

Long Time Onkyo Owner

My first shipment of this new unit had to be returned due to a dead receiver after only 2 days of use. Very odd, not even test tones from the speaker test menu in receiver. I had some problems with Newegg wanting to replace this and even Onkyo tech...

Great features, HDMI, very solid sounding in a rather large room and a lot of input audio connectors. The speakers sound good and seem to be pretty well constructed. The bass model is very well constructed, thunderous bass and this is with the bass...

Shipping damage on first unit, plus a few minor scratches on speakers. The surround side and rear speakers are much larger than my previous Onkyo Theater in a box, I would call them more like book shelf speakers, but they sound good. The receiver seems...

Looked for months and was overwhelmed, was told to buy seperates, but there was too much to choose from and couldnt hear before I made a purchase so I decided to go with the onkyo, to me as close to buying seperates as you can get. speakers are large...

THX For The Masses

Whether you assemble a home theater from separates (as I had always intended) or get a "Home Theater in a Box", if they are THX certified and are setup to THX standards, they will reproduce the film's sound the way the director intended it to be...

The speakers aren't tiny and my wife still loves the setup. Sound quality is better than I expected. I have installed THX systems in peoples homes costing up to 25-30 times as much as I paid and this suits my needs as well as those systems suited...

Expect to buy better speaker cable. I had to have the system professionally me

Awesome Surround Sound System

Sound quality ; Numerous listening modes ; Plenty of inputs

This is a con for me, for others might not be the case. The size of everything is quite large compared to other HTIB systems

Great System

This is a really great system, totally worth the money. Just hope nothing major on it breaks b/c you'll be out of commission for a LONG time.

Quality audio and very simple setup. The auto setup feature is amazingly accurate and makes setup crazy easy. The subwoofer will rattle your walls, and it's all THX certified

Had one of the front speakers start to rattle about a month after I bought it. Dropped it off at the Onkyo certified repair place, and it took 8 weeks to get the speaker back. Every time I called they were "waiting for the part to come in" VERY...

Another solid product by Onkyo

Sound is superb! Crystal clear sound all around thanks to the sealed enclosure design of all speakers included in this system. 12" 290W of pure, tight sub-bass. If you live in an apartment (Like me) your neighbors will not be happy unless you temper...

Japanese Engineering at it's best = Onkyo ; THX ; Solid reliability and great customer service ; Thoughts ; I have been a home and car audio enthusiast for over 20 years. Since my early teens I've built my own custom speaker cabinets for both home and...

Speaker size may be unappealing to some people ; Speaker wire cheap and not long enough. I installed this system in a 21 x 18 foot room and there's barely enough length to reach the rear speakers. But if your an audiophile like me, your likely to buy...

Excellent Surround in 12' x 20' Room

The PLIIx THX Music mode does sound relatively decent expanding Digital Dolby 2.0 out to quasi 7.1 channels on the Sonic music channels I receive from my satellite TV provider. A few HD channels occasionally broadcast concerts in 5.1 channels, they...

Sounds great in PLIIx THX Cinema mode when playing movies on HD channels broadcast in 5.1 channel surround, in my case with a satellite TV receiver

Subwoofer is only rated at 125 Watts according to documentation shipped with the system (albeit at 1% THD, clean for a subwoofer). Receiver is rated at 130 Watts/channel into 6 ohms, Speakers are rated up to 130 Watts power handling. However, the...

Ninja Sound

Reciever does get hot, but not enough for me to worry. If you have a larger room I would definitely suggest this system.

Phenomenal sound - 2EQ setup calibrated my speakers to provide optimal sound...thought it was great before calibration, now it blows my mind! Sub is adequate but I'm not sure it can quite "shake the dust" from a ceiling as others have described

Too much sound for the size of room I have it in for my home theater...oops, I got greedy for THX sound. Speakers are also big, but again, they would be less bulky in a more reasonably sized room. Only REAL con is the lag in feed as you switch...

Awesome THX system

I will suggest to use a different wire AWG. The one included is a little bit low quality for THX... You can use anything between 15 and 18 AWG and it will deliver the best results.

Easy to setup. Amazing sound quality
