Hardware review: Scan 3XS GW-HTX30

This is the fastest dual Xeon E5 workstation we've ever seen, but also one of the more expensive ones, says James Morris

CONS

Fastest rendering performance we’ve seen

The Scan 3XS GW-HTX30 is pretty much top of the heap in every respect, with the fastest rendering and some of the fastest modelling performances we’ve ever seen. The price is also suitably heap-topping, but not by an amount we’d consider unwarranted....

Samsung HT-X30 review

It's not the loudest system around, but we think most people will love the Samsung HT-X30's warm sound and great picture quality. Extra features such as the USB port, DivX playback and DVD-Audio support only add to its charm

Good picture quality ; Impressive sound ; Low price tag

Not amazingly loud ; Only upscales to 1080i format

Conclusion There are definitely louder-sounding home cinema systems on the market, but for this price, the HT-X30 puts in a surprisingly powerful performance. Add in clean pictures from DVDs and you've got a great little setup that doesn't cost the Earth

Best Buy!

Samsung's HT-X30 is the cheapest kit in the group that can accept digital audio from an external source.

On paper, Samsung's HT-X30 is a really tempting package. The feature list is tremendous for a system under £200, giving you plenty of value-adding extras to fiddle with between films. And there are elements of its performance that will give you reason...

Stuff magazine

Samsung's cute, compact HT-X30 is one of the best-value home cinema in a box systems around. Just don't expect sonic fireworks…

We've heard bigger-sounding systems, but for its price this Samsung supplies excellent picture quality
