Samsung HT-X710T

We recently looked at the HT-TZ512T from Samsung, a solid home theater-in-a-box that focuses on DVD playback and offers wireless rear surround sound. The TZ512 also offers a few additional audio inputs as well as compatibility with various digital file...

Good-sounding 2.1 DVD player home theater system; wall-mountable; strong digital media playback includes DivX, MP3, WMA, WMV, JPEG files; includes iPod dock; USB port and Bluetooth streaming compatibility.

Expensive; no video inputs; no iPod video playback.

The Samsung HT-X710 is a great-sounding 2.1 DVD system, but the funky design and dearth of inputs may put off some buyers.

Samsung HT-X710T Review

With the HT-X710T, Samsung attempts to pile a DVD/CD player, FM radio, iPod dock, USB reader, Bluetooth and other goodies into one shiny wonder box, but ends up faltering a bit under the load of so many tasks. While it technically performs everything...

Plenty of features; simple Bluetooth connectivity; easy setup

Bulky and awkward receiver; inconsistent menus; only two auxilary inputs ; lackluster midrange

Although its unique style differentiates this system from rather plain competitors....

"Great sound, great functionality, mostly..."

It was worth it for me, I'd been looking for a bluetooth solution, and the sound I think is top notch, more midrange than most home theater systems.

The bluetooth function is fantastic, I can now stream music wirelessly from my PC with no issues, I love it. The sound is great, I think. If you have a specific need, then the lack of inputs shouldn't phase you.

Unless you put the receiver unit on your wall, you won't be able to see the display, further, since it's on top of the unit, it can't slide in somewhere within your unit comfortably.

Solid value at $400 price point.

I still am an audiophile, but price these days and ease of setup are top priorities. I have enjoyed my JBL Century 100's, towers made by Polk, and currenlty a tidy little B&W 2.1 system. This Samsung 2.1 is more than fine. It sounds nice. the price...

Easy setup with Samsung Series 5 using HDMI cable. Optical audio cable link to Comcast converter box. Intuitive controls. Just relax and enjoy the sound. No need to spend more for Bose 321. This is even cheaper than Bose Cinemate which has no DVD

Having a little problem getting the Comcast remote to learn the DVD's code, otherwise not enought to complain about
