Kaspersky Internet Security 2009

We rarely see a new security suite that introduces really innovative ways to protect your PC. It's more common to find makers adding unrelated features such as online backup and PC tune-up to make it seem like you're getting more. Looking at Kapersky ...

Heavyweight security, lightweight tool. Innovative protection, efficient performance, and it's easy to use too.

PC Tools Internet Security 5.5.1

There were no issues with installation, although the program didn't offer to scan our PC for viruses first. Some viruses try to prevent anti-virus software installing, so this could be an issue if you're hoping to remove existing viruses

A security service that's tough on spies. A good suite apart from the disappointing lack of heuristic scanning.

BullGuard Backup 8.0

BullGuard Backup 8.0

By Karl Wright

As its name suggests, BullGuard Backup is a plain old-fashioned backup program. It doesn't take an image of entire disks or partitions. It just copies files from your PC to a remote location of your choice. This sounds simple enough, and to a large ...

Useless on bulls, fine for making backups. Does everything a basic backup program should, which isn't really a lot.

Iolo System Mechanic

By Andy Zarkesh

PC tune-up utilities are sometimes a waste of money because they replicate tools that are already included with Windows, such asDisk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup Wizard. Tools like System Mechanic, however, can repair the Windows Registry, the ...

F-Secure Internet Security offers a full set of anti-virus, firewall, anti-spam and anti-spyware capabilities. Compared to some better known suites, it uses fewer system resources, and we really noticed this in practice. After installation, our ...

CA INTERNET SECURITY SUITE 2007

This suite provides anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-spam software as well as a firewall and a backup program. We were impressed when, within seconds of being installed, it told us a suspicious program was trying to access the Internet. Impressed, ...

Partial protection isn't really enough. Comprehensive, but a bit flakey and not completely reliable.
