Great for Do-It-Yourself laptop upgrade

By huttonpb (pricegrabber.com)

I bought this enclosure to upgrade my Dell notebook's 5400rpm hard drive to a Hitachi 7200rpm hard drive. I made the swap and now my notebook runs faster and my old 30GB drive is in the case as external storage via the USB 2.0 cable. I was very impressed...

Aluminum case is very slim and solid. Easy to plug in the new hard drive and make a clone of my data using Norton Ghost. Includes a nice pocket-size leather carrying case.

USB cable is a bit longer that what I need, and it does not fit into the carry case with the drive.

Isnt the Newegg "review" great?

By RLD (newegg.com)

I didnt even *bother* to buy this controller after I read the reviews that warned of Adaptec's non-support.

What can I say? This controller seems like a real headache.

Newegg allows me to return it.

There is and will be no driver for Vista or Linux.
