Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo-i Review (midnight/gray) - Radios

I had (still have) an iHome iH9. It was a pretty good clock radio, but had thin sound, not tremendously adjustable volume, and a noticeable hiss on my favorite FM station. So, after a couple weeks' research, I bought a Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo-i....

Sounds great; treble, bass, and volume are infinitely adjustable. Radio reception is also superb, even on low-power stations

Lacks many basic clock radio features. You can't pick the radio station or the playlist you want to wake to. You can't set the alarm volume. Manual is poorly written. Turning the "mode" knob makes music turn off. It's hard to seat an iPod 2 properly

Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo-i Review (midnight/gray) - Radios

I bought this iPod dock based on the Cnet review, but I now feel I made the wrong choice. My iPod Touch 2G sits very loosely on it's docking station. I have to "wiggle" the iPod until it achieves a connection with the dock. Even then, it is not secure....

Sounds great. It can get really loud without any noticeable distortion. Great bass response. Extra set of aux inputs

Remote doesn't work (could be the battery, but it's right out of the box.) Lack of compatibility with iPod Touch 2G. Even while dimmed, the display is too bright to have next to your bed while you sleep

Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo-i Review (midnight/gray) - Radios

Ive been using the Boston Acoustics duo-i for 3 weeks now, and I have to say that I am completely satisfied with my purchase. There are so many things that I like about this unit, for the instance: 22 brightness levels for the display, the snooze...

Great sound, very easy to use, you get almost all that you want from clock radio plus and ipod dock

No 5/24 alarm, sleep function not available on the remote

Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo-i Review (midnight/gray) - Radios

I bought this to replace an XtremeMac Luna (original version), when I discovered that it wouldn't work fully with my new iPod classic (120GB). Among other things, I needed a unit with a display that all but disappeared when the bedroom lights are...

Fantastic sound (look who it's made by!); crisp, easy-to-read display; intuitive control layout (you have to like knobs, though; I do); HIGHLY versatile array of inputs/outputs, including headphone jack and standard coax connector for a REAL antenna

Definitely larger than your average clock radio (the price you pay for such great sound); brightness control can be set *really* dim but not entirely dark (but there's an undocumented workaround)

The low humming is making me put the unit in a different place which is not ideal, but other than taht it works really well.

Very good performance and easy to operate

My unit has a very low humming which is audible at night since it sats on my bead stand

Excelent Value...

For $100, a great deal. But sound quality compromised due to emphasis on boomy bass. I have treble at +5, bass at -1! Ipod dock wasted on me. Why hook up music player to this?

Attractive design ; Sensitive tuner even with supplied antenna ; Remote control ; Many features and well constructed. Heavy ; Plays loud and clean

Display too small (problem if near sighted!) ; Mid-bass emphasized (This is a huge minus!)

Exactly as advertised

Overall, a solid, well-designed, and very well built piece of gear. Newegg site design, price, and shipping is all first rate. What a relief to have things done this well.

Great tuner! Why can't all tuners grab stations like this? Easy to use, intuitive controls. Simple layout. Precise volume control with a great range. Nice choice of inputs. And, of course, solid sound--not audiophile quality, but among the top tier for...

Dock is a little awkward to use

Great Value

For $100, it is worth it! It is well made with tons of features. Wish it included HD radio. Ipod dock doesn't interest me either. Receives stations well with included antenna wire. Nice looking and well made. Weighs a lot! Even has remote. Only...

Great Value ; Attractive ; Nice Tuner ; Heavy Duty Construction ; Many Features (i.e. remote, dual alarms etc.)

Controls Not Very Intuitive ; Mid-Bass Emphasized ; Clock Display Too Small

It's not intended to play to a very large room, but sounds great in the dining room.

Excellent price for a very good unit. Works well with my Itouch gen2 (A1288) 8gb ; Newegg peace of mind

The controls take some "discovery" but it's all there

Boston Duo

I think you will have a hard time finding a better sounding or constructed stereo for $99.

Simple to set up and use. Solid, heavy unit that stays put. Sounds very good for this class of stereo. (ie: not McIntosh seperates!) Remote is comprehensive, convenient and magnetic. I bought 2, one for my office and the other to replace my 22 year old...

Not really a con, but it doesn't compare to my dedicated 2 channel 375 wpc Carver/Vandersteen stereo system in my home theater. :)
