Logitech UE Boombox Review

At first glance, the Logitech UE Boombox looks a bit like something Judy Jetson would carry to a beach party on an asteroid. It's all smooth curves and brushed aluminum, evoking the Mac Pro's cheese-grater aesthetic, as well as mid-20th-century design.

Portable and rechargeable. Surprisingly deep bass. Six-hour battery life. Large volume buttons on the side

Kinda heavy. Battery is not replaceable, once it eventually dies

The aesthetics may be a bit retro, but the UE Boombox packs a punch, and offers fantastic sound quality for the money. Even Mr. Spacely would approve.

Logitech UE Mini Boom ( orange)

If you're like me and having been keeping tabs on the wireless Bluetooth speaker market, you know that the UE Mini Boom looks a lot like last year's UE Mobile Boombox . Cosmetically, at least, the two products are nearly identical (the speaker grilles...

The UE Mini Boom is a very compact Bluetooth speaker that has a built-in rechargeable battery, speakerphone capabilities, a line input, and ruggedized design. It sounds good for its small size and can be combined with a second Mini Boom to create a...

Yes, the Mini Boom's bass is slightly improved, but it still can't produce a ton of bass.

While it doesn't do that much to stand out from the crowded field of Bluetooth speakers in the $60-$100 range, the well-built and decent sounding (for its size) UE Mini Boom is a pretty safe choice for those looking for a very compact wireless speaker.

Boom Shaka-Laka-Laka

The UE Boom earns our highest marks. It's super-portable, the battery lasts seemingly forever, and It sounds downright fantastic — especially for a small speaker priced at $200.

Exemplary sound quality from a portable speaker. Amazing battery life — it consistently lasted over 15 hours during months of testing. Rock-solid streaming over Bluetooth from a number of devices. Perfect marriage of size, portability, quality and price

It gets loud, but it sounds cleanest when the volume is around 70 percent. Above that, it gets mushy. The garish color schemes aren’t everyone’s cup of Pu-erh — stick with white

Ultimate Ears UE Boom

The UE Boom is a surprisingly powerful Bluetooth speaker the size of a beer can, but you need two if you want to take advantage of its coolest feature.

Solid soundscape. Powerful, clear midrange and treble. Supports two speakers for true stereo

Slightly weak bass

Logitech's Bluetooth speakers have proven to offer solid performance in small, affordable packages, and the UE Boom (named for the Ultimate Ears brand Logitech acquired) is no different. At $199.99 (direct) this cylindrical speaker is eye-catching,...

Logitech UE Boom ( blue)

Shaped like an energy drink and named like one, the Ultimate Ears Boom has some kick to it -- and that kick lasts all day long.

The UE Boom is a compact, durable wireless Bluetooth speaker that plays very loud for its size and is water- and stain-resistant. It offers up to 15 hours of battery life, has speakerphone capabilities, and is well-suited to outdoor use. Also, if you...

Somewhat pricey; while the sound quality is very good for a speaker this size, the bass could be fuller.

The $200 UE Boom is a versatile and durable wireless Bluetooth speaker that plays loud and is great for on-the-go use.

Like the Jambox, But Half the Size and Half the Price

If you're looking for something that closely matches the Jambox in portability and sound, but costs substantially less, this $100 boombox can't be beat.

Logitech UE Boombox

We've seen plenty of earphones from Logitech since the company bought Ultimate Ears a few years back, and now the UE brand is being expanded into a speaker line. The Logitech UE Boombox ($249.99 direct), has a sleek, minimal design, and streams...

Quality wireless audio performance at moderate volumes. Portable and rechargeable. Simple, sleek design. Easy to set up

Overpriced. Distorts on deep bass tracks at top volumes. Exaggerated bass response not for audiophiles

If you like your low end, the $250 Logitech UE Boombox delivers a sculpted, bass-heavy response in a portable design. But this wireless speaker suffers from distortion at top volumes, and at this price, that shouldn't happen.

Editor's Choice!

Logitech UE Mobile Boombox

Last year, Logitech wowed us with its Mini Boombox , a tiny Bluetooth speaker that puts out surprisingly powerful sound and doubles as a speakerphone. It earned our Editors' Choice for portable Bluetooth speakers, so when Logitech announced a...

Tiny. Very portable. Inexpensive. Warm, clear sound. Solid speakerphone function

Bass could be stronger. Speakerphone, while clear, doesn't get particularly loud

You might find louder and sharper Bluetooth speakers than the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox, but you won't find a better all-around package close to its price.

Logitech UE Mobile Boombox ( white)

I liked the Mini Boombox , Logitech's first attempt at a tiny portable Bluetooth speaker . I said that it did exactly the same thing as the $175 Jawbone Jambox , and while it didn't do it quite as well -- and wasn't as attractive -- it only cost half...

The Logitech UE Mobile Boombox is a very compact Bluetooth speaker that has a built-in rechargeable battery, speakerphone capabilities, a line input, and ruggedized design. It sounds good for its tiny size.

The Mobile Boombox just can't produce a ton of bass.

The Logitech UE Mobile Boombox sports an improved design and slightly better sound than last year's Mini Boombox -- for the same price.

Logitech UE BOOM Review

When speakers come to mind, we generally think of boxy contraptions that project audio in one specific direction – preferable towards us, as opposed to the opposite. Accessory maker Logitech is ditching that notion with its portable Bluetooth speaker,...

Water and stain resistant frame ; Lots of good bass, as long as you select the correct equalizer setting ; Quick pairing via NFC

Pricey for a compact Bluetooth speaker ; Mids and highs are faint at higher volumes

Logitech’s UE Boom speaker is an interesting prospect in the world of portable Bluetooth speakers. Visually, it’s a step up from most others in the space with its catchy and kickass design – one that’s also water-resistant. Perfect for the house or at...
