XtremeMac Tango X2 Review

Audiophiles, listen up! XtremeMac has just introduced its next-generation Tango, the new X2, offering a high-fidelity three-way speaker system designed for use with your iPod. It contains two full-range speakers, two tweeters and a subwoofer. The...

Good size; easy on the eyes

Poor sound quality; iPod adapters not included; functionality issues

The Tango X2 feels like a speaker system that's been rushed to market and meant to play off its forerunner's success.

XtremeMac Tango X2

There's a bevy of options out there if you're looking for an affordable docking speaker system for your iPod, but not all of them have the same design priorities in mind. Here's our detailed look at XtremeMac's Tango X2 iPod speaker system. Does the...

Sound Quality As you may have guessed, because of the speaker's small size, the Tango X2 won't take on any high-end audio setups any time soon. At its worse, the sound is tinny and the speaker lacks bass at the default setting. Cranking it up, however,...

Reviews: XtremeMac Tango X2 2.1 Speaker System + AM/FM Radio

When XtremeMac introduced the original version of Tango two years ago, we weren't exactly sure what to make of it: the $200 2.1-channel white and black audio system was undeniably sleek and modern, but its minimalist design seemed like it was designed...

A smaller, cosmetically updated version of the 2006 Tango audio system, preserving the prior model's audio hardware, Infrared remote control, and shape while dropping its price and adding both AM and FM radio tuners. Cool black, silver, and blue LED...

Radio and iPod audio performance is only a bit above acceptable for the price ; system's appeal is more in its versatility and value for the dollar than its exceptional sound. Bass and treble tweaks are required to make music sound more than fair ;...

Ultimately, Tango X2's appeal-and its general-level recommendation-come from the fact that for the $150 asking price, it looks sharp and does a number of things just well enough to be worthwhile for certain types of users, namely non-critical listeners...

XtremeMac Tango X2

I tried out the X2 after my old system gave up. I was listening to it in my kitchen and the sound was really shallow. I moved it to the bedroom hoping that it was just the accoustics of the kitchen but unfortunately it wasnt. I liked the look of the...

I got one of these recently and returned it. The sound was bad and there is no volume control on the device itself.

Poor radio, poor frequency response

For this price (newegg has the best deal around), I would have expected better performance. I bought this for my wife and neither of us could listen to it for very long.

ipod dock charges ipod when cradled ; Newegg continues to provide great service

not very impressed with the sound quality. As pointed elsewhere on the Internet, the sound is very box and the mid-bottom end is quite "scooped" out and the top end was quite brittle ; Also, the radio reception is poor even with attached antennas ; And...

Best Bang For Your Buck!

I'm currently using this unit with my iPhone 3G, and it works flawlessly. No static or control issues whatsoever.

In all honesty, after hearing dozens of iPod docks, priced from $50 to upwards and over $300, the Tango X2 is by far the BEST bang for your buck! The unit itself is very well built and sturdy. Everything about it feels solid and it actually has some...

The remote control is a little "figity" from distances longer than twenty to twenty-five feet, but I guess that's to be expected from such a small RC. Other than that, I really can't say anything bad about the unit
