Steelseries 7G Keyboard

A few minor flaws aside, the SteelSeries 7G is a truly spectacular piece of hardware.

We couldn’t lock this keyboard up. Great action on a classic keyboard layout

Barebones. Very loud. Extremely expensive. USB ports only support 1.1 speeds

We should also mention that this is one of the loudest keyboards we’ve tested in recent memory. Although SteelSeries describes the 7G’s keys as no-click, they’re certainly not quiet. The other thing we need to touch on is the 7G’s price -- this is an...

18k gold plated mechanical switches ; Tactile and audible feedback ; Minimal looks is just right ; Heavyweight build quality ; Superior anti-ghosting ability ; Built in USB and Audio ports ; SteelSeries key replaces windows key FTW

Wrist rest spoils the looks ; Lock LED's are too bright ; USB hub is old USB 1.1 protocol ; Backspace key is too small

Review: SteelSeries 7G Keyboard

Product Specifications

SteelSeries 7G sets new industry standards for gaming keyboards by allowing users to perform the most detailed and advanced key combinations to date. By utilizing the most powerful PS/2 buffer-system ever created for a gaming keyboard, SteelSeries 7G redefines "anti-ghosting" by supporting as many simultaneous key presses as there are keys on the keyboard. The keyboard features both PS/2 and USB connectors. The use of PS/2 (combined with a gold-plated USB connector) and 18K gold-plated mechanical switches, means that SteelSeries 7G offers more Actions Per Minute than any other keyboard in the world, gaming grade response times and more than six times the durability of a traditional keyboard. SteelSeries 7G is equipped with audio ports for headphone-in and microphone-out and features two USB ports. The keyboard furthermore features SteelSeries Media Controls essential for gaming, allowing the user quick access to volume, mute and other audio controls.
