Apple iPad Keyboard Dock

The touch-screen keyboard built into the Apple iPad is more than sufficient for typing out a quick e-mail or jotting down a to-do list. But if you intend to use the iPad for writing pages of text at a time, or simply don't like the idea of propping the...

The iPad keyboard dock provides a sturdy, full-size keyboard to accommodate typing-intensive apps, such as e-mail and word processing.

It isn't cheap, and the integrated iPad stand makes it awkward to slip into a bag. Editing chores, such as cutting and pasting, still mostly rely on the iPad's touch screen. The dock only supports one screen orientation.

Apple's keyboard dock for the iPad offers a functional and elegant solution for anyone who finds the touch-screen keyboard too limiting, but it does not transform the iPad into a proper computer.

Apple's iPad Keyboard Dock Reviewed

A week ago we did our best to demystify Apple's latest creation: the iPad. What we found was that it provided a wonderful touchscreen experience, but was very limited in ability. Particularly from the productivity standpoint. You could type on its...

The iPad Keyboard Dock is good at one thing: turning your iPad into a desktop writing station. Think typewriter but with a different sort of multitouch. If the iPad is the perfect computing device for you, the keyboard dock is going to make it that...

Apple iPad Keyboard Dock

If you want an iPad, but you're not ready to commit to full-time, on-screen typing, Apple's iPad Keyboard Dock is a solid solution.

Slick design. Provides a physical keyboard for the iPad. Doubles as a stand for photo or video viewing. Charges iPad when docked

No way to dock the iPad horizontally. Can't adjust the amount of space between your eyes and the iPad's screen, like you can with a desktop computer keyboard

Apple iPad Keyboard Dock Review: This Generation's Typewriter

"Over-priced and not very functional"

Were it not for the portrait-only orientation, I would be willing to at least recommend it for use at a table or desk. But if, like me, you find yourself constantly swinging the iPad into landscape mode because zooming the screen in portrait mode...

Apple keyboard quality, iPad-specific keys like a Home and Lock button. Great for email and general typing.

Portrait-only orientation, over-priced, not very portable, not well-suited for use on your lap. For the cost of a $10 USB keyboard and the $30 iPad Camera Connector kit, you can have nearly the same functionality.

"It's a nice device."

Don't get me wrong, I would so get this if I had the iPad, but I don't know, if I got the keyboard I would want a mouse and before I knew it I would literally be using this thing like a laptop. And the iPad isn't exactly cheap.

it makes all typing easier.

it kind of defeats the purpose of the whole touch thing.

If you want a better option for a keyboard, I would suggest the Menotek Flexible Bluetooth Waterproof Mini Keyboard. It is a compact and portable keyboard that can be used with the iPad and other devices. I bought it on Amazon.com for just $29.99. I...
