Cherry G84-4100 review

The little Cherry G84 just about warrants inclusion in the mechanical keyboard category. But unlike the majority of such keyboards that are fitted with one of the four types of Cherry MX switches, the G84-4100 has a special low-profile ML mechanical...

For those times when you demand a small form-factor keyboard that still sports all the main keys you’d need from an IBM PC, the Cherry G84-4100 will neatly fill the space. It’s rated well for industrial longevity at >20 million key strokes – just...

overpriced

Maybe if I sprayed WD40 in the keys...it might be smoother? So disappointed!

it has keys

If you want a $20 keyboard (that's stretching it) and throw away the other $49 -- choose this

ML not MX switches

Be careful when using the catalog. Some specs are wrong.

I emailed Cherry company and recieved a reply almost immediately, that the 4100 series of keyboards use ML and not MX switches. The catalog is wrong when it says 50 million activations, it reads 20 million on the spec sheet on next page. ML are...

Just be aware they are not MX

Nice, but only for windows

It's a programmable keypad, which gives you much greater control over input. It can sit next to your main keyboard, not taking up too much space, but giving you vastly increased key entry capabilities

Unlike many of the other Cherry programmable keyboards, it stores the key definitions in the PC (i.e., in Windows), not in the device, so it's not usable in Linux

Great compact keyboard

Love this keyboard! It is so compact, fits in a fraction of the space of my last keyboard. The keys are magnificent, they have great tactile feedback and I love the clicking sounds they make...helps me type.At first the keys seemed a little small...

Superb Value

As described, this is a high quality Cherry keyboard, with a very nice action. Mine is branded "Maxdata" on top and "Cherry" on the manufacturer's label underneath.

Consumer review by:

Good, standard layout, but height, action and cable could be better

This is a cheap and reliable keyboard with a standard layout. Purists and touch-typists will love it, as all the keys are in the right place. PrintScreen, ScrollLock, Pause|Break, Insert, Home, Page Up/Down, Delete and End are all exactly where they...

Cherry Black Business Keyboard

This is a great keyboard. I am not bopthered about doing shortcut buttons i prefer to have a nice simple layout that works. The buttons have a nice feel and press down with a nice amount of pushback from the springs put are easy to compress.
