Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid-i keyboard takes LED backlighting to the next level

Cooler Master's QuickFire Rapid-i keyboard takes LED backlighting to the next level.

Overall the CM Storm QuickFire Rapid-i is awkwardly named but excellently featured. At $140 it’s absolutely not cheap — you can get very good mechanical keyboards for far less — but if you want the best possible LED lighting controls you’re going to...

Backlighting fails over time

Looks like there is a 2 year warranty period, so at least it looks like I can give that a shot - I expected that I had waited two long (1 year is usually the standard).

Nice form factor, quality switches, sturdy build

I'm down to 27 working backlit keys after about a year. I will say that I have my keyboard hooked to a USB toggle switch to use it between multiple PCs (IOGEAR GUS404). About a third of the time when I toggle the USB switch the keyboard doesn't power...

Great keyboard, but bad warranty policy

- Great typing experience - Solid build - Micro usb connector

After 8 months light weight use, about half of the LEDs are not working, and Cool Master doesn't pay for the RMA shipping. I have seen a lot of people complain about the LED issue, why users are required to pay for the shipping while this is a very...

Great KB...After RMA

Great switches, love the backlighting and color. Doesn't require additional software, no gimmicks.

- I had to RMA my first one, because many of the LEDs had gone out. I got a revised version that had the problem solved. - The spacebar has a kind of weird angle to it, that can be uncomfortable.

Already One light out

Very disappointment, it has not even been a day, let alone have a day and a LED already died!

Firm build

I have only used it for a couple hours and one led already died. Its the "L" key that died, and during the couple of hours that used it this keyboard i was mainly gaming. So, I barely or didnt use the "L" at all.

Cooler Master SGK-4040-GKCM1-US

Overall is a very nice keyboard except for the quality

This is a comfortable and good looking keyboard

A bit worried of the quality, mine was brown switch, every key feels different when press it, and 'D' key's light gets defective after a week of use, had to return it.

eh...it still kinda works

size and key noise n feel are great other features all as advertised

1/3 of keys don't lite anymore that's a real bummer because the only other con was the 90 degree plug going to left out the back of keyboard which was a small inconvience but the keys starting to burn out in such a short period is a real let down

Nice feel, but horrible LEDs

Cherry mechanical switches are always nice, and Browns are my favorite. They keyboard also seems to be durable (except for the LEDs) and hefty.

After a couple months of use, 8 LEDs have gone out. While LED outages do not affect the usability of the keyboard, it sure is annoying to have a spotty keyboard after 10 months of use.

Unreliable LEDs

Love my cherry browns, but after six months, I have 3 LED's burnt out. I can't wait to hear how much it'll cost me in shipping to fix CM's horrible LED selection. The micro usb connector is starting to wobble too, but that's just because I have to...

Cherry brown switches Heavy Construction

Bad LED lifespan Cheap micro USB connector

Bad software, Bad hardware, Bad support

Many other options out there that have better lighting, better compatibility, better customer service, the same Cherry switches, and in the same price range.

Cherry switches are consistently what they are.

Why Mac users should not buy this keyboard: -The software to fix bugs (like the keyboard not being recognized at start up) only works from a Windows machine. The keyboard will work on a mac until it doesn't and then you need Windows to fix it. Why no...
