SteelSeries Merc Stealth Review

Gaming keyboards are first and foremost keyboards. While they must improve your gaming experience in order to earn the label, they must also perform well with more mundane tasks, including word processing, email, and controlling media player software....

Pre-defined profiles for popular games ; Dedicated keys for in-game movements and actions

Unconventional arrow key layout ; Del key embedded in num pad ; Excessive key travel

The Merc Stealth has many good points, but when you mess around with the placement of essential keys, you render the product unnecessarily difficult to learn to use.

had the original for years before the keys started to wear out and decided to upgrade to the light up version and right away I fell in love again. Its a great gaming keyboard. I know people who use a separate device as control keys that act with the...

lights up to make it easy to see during night. multimedia keys and has headset/mic and extra USB slots built in

wish there were more light options available

wish it would have lasted

Good idea, bad implementation.

liked this fairly well when I first got it, not so much after using it for a while. Really like the adjustable illuminated keys. Extra gaming keys handy but at an awkward angle for me

Now the really bad. Left shift key shattered after playing pinball for a few hours. Number pad has been reworked making intuitive entry difficult. Basically if your not looking at it your gonna hit the wrong key. It could really use a palm rest as...

Sweet Keyboard

The finger pad is a double edged sword. It's great and ergonomic, but you will have trouble readjusting to a normal keypad setup. You may note that it lacks a dedicated [Delete] key, it isn't a detractor. It's built into the keypad and is accessible by...

Simple to use. Software is very intuitive and easy to program macros. Once you get used to the setup, you will never want to go back. The two USB ports at the top are pretty handy for headphones or slim USB flash drives

Sometimes the keyboard setup will not change when first enacted. I eventually just setup my games to fall inline with the current setup. The hand setup may be a little small for larger hands. I found it suitable, but my friend complained that it was...

Has potential, but difficult to get used to

If you don't care about numpads, arrow keys, home/end/etc keys, then you might be ok.

Potentially can be very useful for mmo/fps type gaming with nearby skill keys, etc. Cool that it lights up and has connectors for headphone/mic

Difficult to get used to: They put the end/home, etc keys with the numpad, as well as the arrow keys ; Very annoying for someone who often takes advantage of scrolling documents with page down/page up, end, home, etc. Also takes a lot of getting used...

Excellent for Gamers!

I recommend this keyboard to hardcore gamers that play a lot of FPS's and/or RPG's that use WASD. Even if you buy the keyboard and don't like the additional key pad you can still use the normal keyboard, win-win.

I have had this keyboard for 4 years now and I use it all the time. I am a hardcore gamer. The additional key pad is why I wanted this keyboard. I like the wide spacing of the key pad keys

The only major problem that I have with the key pad is that the keys get stuck every now and then even at 4 years since buying it new ; Other cons ; Cheap plastic materials ; Not a good looking keyboard ; Wish there were more key pad buttons

Great Gaming Keyboard

I love this key board. it has a gaming pad on the side, and the keys are nice and smooth. The led back light is great for gaming at night. The keys are just about the right spacing for me although my hands are slightly larger then average

My only complaint about this keyboard is that I had to program it to have a del key with out having to use the num lock key. I just put it on the second window key next to the space on the right since I don't need two windows keys. Since the software...
