Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000

So you need a new mouse and keyboard, but the economy being what it is, you don't have a lot of green to spare. If you're willing to accept some compromises, Microsoft has a very good combo package including both with more features than you might...

Programmable hotkeys ; loaded with features ; mouse works on almost any surface ; inexpensive

Mouse buttons require too much fingertip pressure ; glossy black plastic shows smudges and scratches easily ; doesn't come with rechargeable batteries ; Long-term durability

Microsoft had to cut corners somewhere to hit this attractive price point...

Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000

Even though I have come to rely on my notebook as my primary computer, I still use it in a desktop-like configuration when I'm working out of my home office. ...

BlueTrack mouse tracking technology ; Plenty of media controls and quick access keys ; Very comfortable experience overall ; A good value (when on sale)

Not of a fan of the black-and-white color scheme ; Keyboard is a little bit too small ; Prefer two buttons on thumb side for mouse ; No flashy built-in display, other features

Accompanying the keyboard and mouse are the compact USB mini-transceiver, four Energizer AA alkaline batteries, installation CD, and supporting documentation.

Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000

The last year has seen several big releases from Microsoft's hardware department. Alongside a handful of webcams, they have also started releasing several new keyboards, mice and desktop sets focused around their new BlueTrack optical mouse tracking...

A fresh, new style for Microsoft hardware ; The keyboard has lots of features but styling is kept very simple and uniform ; Mouse uses Microsoft's new BlueTrack technology ; Compact sized, 2.4ghz USB receiver ; Fairly good price point for a set like this

Keyboard wrist rest felt like it was pulling my hands away because of it's slope ; When lifting the mouse to reposition it, the placement of the sensor caused it to still move my cursor

I'm glad to see Microsoft giving a fresh and stylish new look to their latest line of desktop perhipherals. The sleek lines and contrasting colours of both the mouse and keyboard in this set is guarenteed to catch eyes on any desk. However, I was...

MS used to make good hardware...not any more

I thought MS made good stuff? What a sorry excuse for a mouse. POS. If this was for my home system I would return it, unfortunately it's for work so it's not mine. Hard to press buttons (1, 2 and 3), no clicky on the scroll wheel (what were they...

Keyboard feels good. No wires. Better than nothing (and better than Rocketfish garbage). Lots of extra programmable buttons and pre programmed buttons

Where do I start? No caps/scroll/num lock lights on the keyboard, just an on-screen notification if you press them, mouse buttons are really hard to press causing you to often move the mouse while you're trying to press them, thus negating your click, the

Good product but don't break or lose the usb receiver

Smooth and easy to configure

No replacement option for the receiver. the USB receiver is about the size of a thumb drive and it is easy to bump and break. or lose. Since there is not replacement option this 'bricks' an otherwise perfectly working mouse and keyboard

Feature packed. Quality and ingenuity feel and appeal.

The middle mouse button is really the only thing that has seemed to stick out. When clicked it seems to not do it's set function. I have it to double click. It does seem to work fine when I click it a certain way. This may be because of the ability for...

Mouse conforms to hand like non other. Macro ability on both keyboard and mouse; software included. Keyboard/mouse super comfortable and well designed. Tons of hot keys. Perfect for Windows 7. Very useful Windows live email functions as well as media

The inability to turn off both the mouse and keyboard to save battery life, although you can snap in the receiver for the mouse and it does power down. That is great for a laptop but not so much for desktop. Also middle mouse button is hard to press

If it ain't broke, fix it anyway

Very innovative. Not all innovation is good.

Rubberized wrist pad. Pretty good key feel for serious typing. Relatively quiet. Lots of extra keys that do stuff. Relatively good value

Wireless means more batteries to manage, and lower reliability. Lots of extra keys only do stuff you can already do, but require more bloatware on your PC. The person who invented the ridiculous countersunk function and Esc keys will reincarnate as a hams
