Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite

This combo keyboard and mouse set gives you plenty of customization options and a comfortable typing experience.

The Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite gives you a comfortable keyboard and mouse, but in our tests, its wireless range is a little short.

Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite

Microsoft's Wireless Optical Desktop Elite keyboard-and-mouse combo isn't nearly as awe inspiring as Logitech's DiNovo Media Desktop , but with tons of programmable options, a horizontal scrollwheel, and significant improvements in battery life, it's...

Relatively inexpensive; many easy-to-program specialty keys; scrollwheel moves vertically and horizontally; long battery life.

Keyboard easily collects dirt and grime; scrollwheel feels spongy.

Microsoft’s Wireless Optical Desktop Elite is a solid and affordable choice for the home or the office.

Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite

We require a lot of performance out of our keyboards and mice here at the Midwest Test Facility. That's why we haven't ever been too fond of any wireless input technology. It's always been too slow, too awkward or too undependable for the kind of...

Great mouse, good keyboard, excellent drivers

Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite review

In recent years Microsoft's cordless keyboard and mouse combinations have fallen behind Logitech's offerings in terms of aesthetics and features. The Wireless Optical Desktop Elite aims to change that, with a freshly redesigned keyboard and the...

Best MS keyboard ever ; Comfortable ; Lots of assignable keys ; Twin tilt wheels ; Competitively priced

Not offered in a wired version ; You cant get the keyboard without the mouse

Ultimately, I believe that the Wireless Optical Desktop Elite does indeed oust the Cordless MX duo as the keyboard and mouse combo to beat. The very fake leather rest is extremely comfortable for long periods of typing, so writers and programmers...

Microsoft - Wireless Optical Desktop Executive Edition

Here's a question for you. How much would you pay for a keyboard and mouse set? In days gone by, you might be tempted to stretch to £50 or £60, perhaps, assuming the right combination of ...

This is excellent hardware, undoubtedly, but for the majority of us, a leather-effect keyboard and mouse set isn't enough to part us from £120. Shopping around can get you almost as good for a healthy amount less.

"Can't turn it off No support No documentation"

Most basic of all functions (on/off) not available (some of us would like to use another keyboard or, heaven forbid, conserve battery life.

Just bought it, nice ergonometrics, reasonable price. Bought with a wireless mouse, run off the same usb. I am a touch typist and liked the feel. Liked the graphic key identification and the shortcut descriptions on the front of the keys.

This is a battery powered device, and not only is it not rechargeable, but there appears to be no way to TURN IT OFF!! Buried in the Hardward properties is the option to allow the computer to turn it off. DOESN"T WORK, greyed out.

"Looks good, works good, at least at first. C+ or B-"

The good features are obviously that the keyboard/mouse combo are wireless and you can operate them up to a certain distance from the transceiver. The mouse is optical which is much better than the standard ball type mouse. The keyboard has...

I like wireless feature as well as the fake leather wrist rest. I also enjoy this product's programmable shortcut keys and the overall design and good feel when typing. The keys operate smoothly with minimal noise.

I dislike how the mouse completely stopped working after only two years of normal use. The next track/previous track keys on the keyboard only work sometimes. One of the hinged feet on the bottom of the keyboard simply broke off, with normal use.

"Communication issues prompt lower rating"

This keyboard would be great, except that it is constantly dogged by communication issues. The biggest connection issue is that the keyboard and mouse will sometimes lose its pairing with my laptop. I will need to go through the pairing ritual at least...

Includes USB Bluetooth dongle, decent battery life, scroll wheel on keyboard

No rechargeable battery, Bluetooth may require multiple pairings, occaisionally keys are repeatedly pressed
