Verdict

I found the MSI GK-601 Gaming Keyboard to be a very well presented all round package. It houses the rather likeable Cherry MX Red switches which are a firm favourite amongst many Gamers and they perform their job well, even though the MSI GK-601 itself...

MSI GK-601 Review

MSI's first mechanical gaming keyboard featuring Cherry MX Red switches and plenty of features such as LED backlight and full NKRO support.

Pleasant to the eye ; A step away from usual red/blue ; Good build quality ; Full NKRO ; Disable Windows key on-the-fly ; LED backlit

Buggy software ; Only available with Cherry MX Red switches

Jumping into a new market brings with it many challenges and for MSI it’s certainly a brave move considering the fierce competition in this sector.

MSI GK-601 Cherry Red mechanical keyboard review

It seems ironic really that despite all the modern technological developments surrounding the 21st century desktop gaming PC, it's the mechanical switch, a design that has been around far longer than most, that is hailed as the pinnacle of keyboard...

Lovely to type on.

Software can be a bit fiddly.

Great keyboard

Overall I like the keyboard. I bought it because of the key layout and no frills. Wasn't expecting my head set to sound better but it does... Feels like a new. So far mechianical keys feel over rated to me. But they do last longer. They might even last...

Well built, back lit keys, red switches, doesn't flex, heavy, braided cable, inputs for head set and USB ; Made my head set sound even better

Price is high, big (tall, wide and long) and uncomfortable for long period of use
