Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Review

Great key mechanisms, strong build, just the right number of features

Attracts fingerprints, noisy, doesn’t offer many more features than $50-cheaper basic model

Razer, long known for its high-end gaming mice, has had sort of a slow start when it comes to gaming keyboards. Its offerings haven’t been bad, but the company hasn’t had a must-have product yet. The BlackWidow is Razer’s first.

Razer Blade review (2014): a 'no-compromise' premium gaming laptop

More often than not, I feel like my feedback -- both as a customer and a writer -- vanishes into a collapsing singularity of customer service. And yet, I

Fast and powerful ; Great 3,200 x 1,800 display ; Slim, compact and attractive

Expensive ; Screen resolution can undercut performance ; Shorter battery life than the 2013 model

The newest Razer Blade is the company's best laptop yet, but it trades epic battery life for an exceptional display.

Razer Black Widow Ultimate

The Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard provides users with a light and springy typing experience, but personal taste may set in when considering the clicky keys.

Typing experience is light and springy. Backlighting. Fully customizable keyboard. Macro editing. Keyboard's downloadable software has easy to use UI

Can't adjust the color of the backlighting like in other Razer models. Glossy frame attracts smudges

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard review: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

To a certain extent Razer has made its own life difficult with the BlackWidow Ultimate. This $125 mechanical keyboard offers an impressively responsive typing experience, but we don't find its backlighting or spare USB jack and audio ports enough to...

Cherry MX Blue mechanical-key switches offer one of the most satisfying typing experiences available; backlighting helps you game in the dark; on-the-fly macro recording; intuitive driver software.

Backlighting and a few spare ports don't justify the $40 premium over the non-Ultimate BlackWidow.

At $125, the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is a competitively priced mechanical gaming keyboard in its range. We just wish Razer had done more to set this "Ultimate" edition apart from Razer's more affordable standard BlackWidow.

Razer Blackwidow Ultimate

The BlackWidow Ultimate is a unique keyboard that provides a bit of subtle satisfaction with its clunky mechanical keys

A pricey but competent gaming keyboard that's built like a tank and packs tons of features.

Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2014

The Razer Black Widow Ultimate is a sleek-looking keyboard. Find out how it compares to other gaming keyboards in our full review.

Powerful customization and a solid feature set make this keyboard attractive

This keyboard is limited to 6KRO and only comes with Razer Green switches

The Razer Black Widow Ultimate is a powerful and compelling gaming keyboard with a couple small shortcomings.

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate review

Razer's new switches are a dampener, not a silencer, on keyboard clack

Responsive keys minimize mis-presses ; Substantial construction and feel ; Less noisy keystrokes

Lacks resounding blue-switch feel ; MMO gamers may want more macro keys

Taken on its own, the Razer Ultimate BlackWidow is a sturdy, responsive keyboard that will do what you want most out of a peripheral - fade into the periphery, especially if you disable the backlight. And as much as Razer would like you to believe it...

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate review

Paying a premium for a keyboard is rare most of the time when you are assembling a PC, but once in a while a keyboard with the distinctive clickety-click sound comes along and is almost as expensive as a decent graphic card. One such mechanical...

Priced at £74, the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate is, according to us, asking for too much moolah. In fact, if you do not want any of the fancy features like the backlighting, the macro keys or the USB port then you can go ahead and buy the standard...

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate

The Razer Blackwidow Ultimate mechanical keyboard enters our lab with oodles of panache and manages to impress us.

Great tactile feedback,Sturdy build quality,Backlit LED keys are great,Macro recording on the fly

The glossy body is a fingerprint magnet,Minimum lag time of 6ms is a little disappointing,No PS/2 connector

Very Good

Review: Razer Black Widow 2014

When Razer released its Black Widow keyboard range a few years ago, it pretty much started a gaming keyboard cold war. Not only were its peripherals competitors hopping onto the mechanical keyboard bandwagon (including folks like Corsair, who'd never...

Razer really should stick with Cherry switches.
