It's taken us a while to get our hands on Saitek's Eclipse II backlit keyboard. It was originally announced at E3 this year, and we're only now getting some hands-on time with it. The design hasn't changed that much since the original Eclipse board ;...

Lower price compared to that of other backlit keyboards; three LED color options; easy setup.

No additional keys or customization software; keys feel cramped and mushy; not as fully featured as the competition.

If all you want is a backlit keyboard, Saitek's Eclipse II does that very well. We wish that Saitek had also refined the key feel and added a few other features. Aside from lighting up, it doesn't offer gamers much to get excited about.

The Saitek Eclipse II Gaming Keyboard is a very well built, back-light keyboard without a lot of fancy extras. You will not find any head phone jacks or USB ports and it also lacks programmable buttons and therefore any software to program them. So...

Great choice of lighting, Very good build quality, Silent keys, Just a tad bigger than usual keyboards, Good adjustable size and height., Solid grip on surface, Back-light looks great for LAN parties

No headphone/speaker or USB plugs for LAN party use, Angle of light makes it hard to read with the back-light, No CD or special programmable buttons., Manual not the easiest read

I have always loved the feel of the Eclipse Keyboards I've reviewed over the years. Quiet, responsive keys – the layout is always comfortable, I can't find much that I don't like. My only beef with this product would be the amount of light put out....

Three backlight color choices, Dimmer switch for adjusting brightness, Keys are responsive and have a good, solid feel
