Qnap brings the first Atom-powered NAS device to market, with impressive results
The first Atom NAS appliance delivers a fine combination of features and an improved web interface
Comprehensive server options ; RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD configurations ; built-in 256-bit AES volume encryption ; hot-swappable drives
Steep learning curve ; cost ; no "secret question" option for retrieving lost passwords
The QNAP TS-439 Pro Turbo NAS is a great device for tech-savvy SMBs looking for a networked storage solution, but novices need not apply.
The TS-439 Pro uses the same largely text-based Web interface seen in the...
Qnap TS-439 Pro based on Intel's Atom processor - and QNAP functionality selection becomes more and more impressive. At the same time ease of use improved .
Good functionality. Easy to use. Good performance ;
High price. Service packs according to company use ;
The disadvantage of using an encrypted file system is performance, especially in writing. We saw in some of our tests the performance of the transmission rates were more than halved. It used 256-bit AES encryption. Here one must make an individual assessm...
Deffinately worth the money!!
NAS was very easy to setup. The newer Firmware was a deffiante plus. New UI makes things all easier. Purchased and installed 4-1.5T Seagate Barracudas in Raid 5. Never had any problems. Easy to make available on the internet as well! Qnap has an excellent...
Does take a while to load, but who will really turn off once setup? It also does require a little bit of knowlege to set up. It did take a month or so to set everything up the way I wanted it

I bought this specifically to replace a music server I had built to run Squeeze Center and stream music to my various Squeezebox devices. This box accomplishes the task nicely. It's easy to setup and does exactly what I want with no skips or hiccups in th...
This is a minor quibble, but the startup time seems a bit excessive. It takes a good eight minutes from power-on to ready status. I don't have a real need to turn the unit off and on so it doesn't affect me on a day-to-day basis, but when I make a configu...
I have tried out a few other NAS, including D-link, before settling on this NAS. I feel I made the right decision with going with Qnap and have had no regrets.
This NAS does everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Has very good transfer rates which can really take advantage of Gigabit ethernets. Simply versatile. Auto IP filtering which is great for those script kiddies that want to try and break into your FTP server...
Price, obviously
