Acer Aspire 7740 Review

The Acer Aspire 7740 is a 17.3-inch multimedia notebook designed for people who want a lot of features for not a lot of money. This notebook costs $749 while still offering an Intel Core i3-330M processor, Intel GMA HD graphics, Blu-ray drive, and a...

Good screen resolution ; Nice-sounding speakers ; Comes with Blu-ray drive

Doesn't come with Blu-ray software ; No touchpad sensitivity adjustment

One thing missing from the keyboard layout is quick-access media keys. It was surprising that a notebook designed entirely around multimedia use with a Blu-ray drive didn't offer touch-sensitive buttons for volume control or media playback. Instead...

Acer Aspire AS7740-5691

Available from Staples, the Acer Aspire AS7740-5691 ($649.98 list) offers a spacious 17.3-inch HD display, a dual-core CPU, and a few nice entertainment features. However, as is the case with most budget notebooks, there are trade-offs. While the...

Very affordable. Bright 17.3-inch display. Good audio quality

So-so performance. Integrated graphics. Can't do 1080p. Bloatware

The Acer Aspire AS7740-5691 won't bowl you over with record breaking performance or stunning good looks, but it's incredibly low price may get your attention.

Great Value, few downsides

Great value, fast computer. As long as you're willing to lug it around (it's on the heavy side, as are most 17 inch laptops), it's a good deal The one con i think of it the lack of a dedicated graphics card. Intel integrated Graphics ruins this computer.

3 Crushes every day

I purchased this notebook for my office use but the system constantly getting the "blue screen" crushed again, this forces me to buy another computer today to replace this junk. Normally it will get around 3 crushes per day and 80% of the time will...

First Things First

Well the first thing I did when I got this Acer Laptop was to pop a cd-rom into the drive, wiped Windows and installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Once this was done the system that got "so-so" reviews has become my favorite laptop ever. This has proven...
