The NB505 netbook is underpowered, but it's also under $300.

Touchpad is more spacious than pads on many much larger laptops. Dirt cheap. Battery life approaches 5 1/2 hours

Incredibly slow; would happily have paid the extra for another gig of RAM. Ultra-flat keyboard makes touch-typing massively error-ridden. We had forgotten that Windows 7 Starter Edition actually existed. Pretty darn ugly

The Toshiba Mini NB505 is budget minded netbook equipped with basic features. It replaces the NB500 as Toshiba's cheapest netbook. Hardware components includes an Intel Atom N455 (single core), 1GB of ram, and a 250GB hard drive.

RAM NOT DD2

 

Didn't want to give it one egg on this one since its not a product issue.

My friend got this netbook not me ; All in all it seems pretty good

The ram for this laptop is listed wrong on the Newegg page ; When I went to put a 2 gig DDR2 stick in it was a no go. The stick in it said PC3 10600 which is DDR3 not ddr2. Be warned

Wrong RAM!

 

The RAM that it is stated to contain (DDR2 667) is not even compatible with the netbook. I called TOSHIBA tech support to get to the bottom of this and they state that it should contain DDR2 800. The card that was actually in my netbook was a DDR3...

Good netbook, works well for browsing the internet and watching media

Windows 7 Starter ties it down to bare basics. If you plan on upgrading the RAM, check the card first! The RAM that is stated it contains is not at all correct

Wonderful Little Notebook

 

For $300, this was an excellent buy. A common theme that I kept seeing while researching netbooks was memory. A lot of people seemed to think Windows 7 couldn't run satisfactorily on only 1GB of RAM, which is what most netbooks come with. I was annoyed...

The trackpad is still a bit strange to me. The soundcard is better than the one in my old Vostro 1500, but there is only one speaker, and it sounds horrible. This is ok because I didn't buy this for a home theater experience
